Wait a second, a guy named Hugo Smits made the game, and your name is Hugo smits, and you know a lot about the game, and and...
Faints
I can't believe I didn't catch that before.

Just let it happen.

I knew from the beginning, just checked out GoodbyeGalaxyGames's website.

And I'm looking forward to see more of what GGG can do for DSiWare, Mr. Smits

if only I had more CPU…… wii-ware perhaps ? (this is me dreaming out loud).

Ooh, yes I'd love a WiiWare sequel, with the same retro look but larger stages, more fluid camera, etc.

This is, indeed, a great game you've created. The colorful, retro look is so beautiful. But it seems like its short, I'm on 4-3. Can't wait for your future DSiware releases!

High Score Time

I believe I have the highest achievable score on most of the levels now, but I'd be quite happy to be proven wrong. If your score is lower, you've still got some playin' to do, and if higher, let me know so that I can go back to that level.

Plains World
1 - 1150
2 - 950
3 - 750
4 - 1250
Star - 1150

Ghost World
1 - 1200
2 - 1200
3 - 1150
4 - 950
Star - 1350

Pirate World
1 - 1150
2 - 1050
3 - 1350
4 - 1150
Star - 850

Robot
1 -1300
2 - 1250 1450
3 - 1500 2150
4 - 2200 2650
Star - 1750 2450 (beat that!)

EDIT: updated with some unbeatable Robot scores.

it's also a high-score thing (and yes, later stages should be harder, especially if you try to find all stars).

You see, the levels looks simple, but there are just so many ways to complete them. It's just fun to play
around with the powerups and see if you can solve it in different ways.

Have the review boxes been sent out?

@Hugo

Ah, good call, now I see how to do that. It never occurred to me that the gap at the edge was short enough to walk across.

@cheapogamer4life

Several of those robot scores require that you kill 4 robots with a single explosion. The robot stages were by far the most interesting to replay for me, with numerous tricky ways to solve most of them.

Hey Hugo. It's Xkhaoz. I was wondering, have you sent out my copy yet? It's just that I really want to play it. Thanks. Oh, and I was wondering, is the game on a DS card, or does it have a code to download it?

Blow up the wall to the left of the double Restore power-up (underneath the double Build power-up).

Alright, here are my honest, objective opinions:

The Bad:
1. It's too short. I beat the whole thing and got every star in one sitting. Took like 30 minutes. No real incentive to play after that, unless you're into getting higher scores, not much replayability for me.
2. Not much variety. Only three different types of power ups and enemies and two of them are really the same, just one moves faster. And you've already experienced everything each power up has to offer after the first level, so the game doesn't really throw much new at you after that other than enemies.
3. The camera. The camera isn't bad or broken, but it doesn't really rotate so much as it kind of switches to another angle which sometimes confuses you as to which angle you've switched to.
4. Repetitive. Bonus gift levels are kind of pointless unlike the star levels. In the bonus levels it's just repetitive digging or building until you reach the star. The star levels are levels of their own but the problem is searching for stars in the main levels can be tedious, amounting to just bombing random spots hoping there's a star underground. It's not exactly as fun as star coin collecting in New Super Mario Bros. And even the main levels, like I said you've experience most of what the game has to offer by the first level, the rest of the levels are mostly more of the same kind of stuff.
5. Awkward interface. When you click on a level for more information you can't go back to the main menu or press B like in most games to be taken back. You have to enter the level and then exit to the main menu through there. And the way you click on things, you have to double-click like it's a PC which is awkward and unwieldy on DS. It's odd. Fortunately the levels don't require a double-click, but I found myself wishing I could control my little guy with the D-pad, rather than point-and-click him through the level, as sometimes he didn't go exactly where I wanted and sometimes he unintentionally walked right into an enemy and killed me or walked into a different power up making me lose my current power up forcing me to restart the level. The levels are so small in size that it can be difficult to maneuver. Unfortunately there is no options to tweak the controls to your liking.

The Good:
1. Visuals are top notch. Really fine pixel work, absolutely none of it looks cheap. Solid art direction.
2. Music is top notch. Chip-tunes fit retro vibe and each song fits each level. Ghost level sounds ghostly, pirate level sounds sufficiently piratey. It all matches the visuals and sounds good rather than generic like the music did in Scribblenauts.
3. The multiple ways you can go about solving some of the levels. Bomb the world to create a ramp or make a platform to get higher, or rebuild something destroyed. Defeat enemy by making him fall off into nothingness or even bury him alive. It's nice that there are certain rules in the game, and you can use those rules to solve problems different ways.
4. A+ for effort. The fact that this was essentially made by one guy forgives a lot of it's faults. You'd be remiss to not support the little guy.

Final thoughts:
In the end it's not a bad game, it's got quality and it's pretty fun, if short and a bit repetitive. The visuals and music are really among the best on DSiWare. But I can't help but think how much better it could have been if more time had been spent on it, added more levels, more powerups, more enemies, and fixed up interface issues. I mean, another release on DSiWare the same week, Aura-Aura Climber is only 200 points and and it has more powerups, enemies, and variety than this game, with much larger levels and more incentive to replay them like obtaining medals for meeting certain requirements and an endless mode. That said, Aura-Aura Climber was also made by Nintendo which has money, staff, and time to spare, this was made by one guy. For 500 points I don't really think there's enough here, but what it does do it does pretty well and very interestingly and I want to support the little guy so I'd say...

Final Verdict:
Buy it!
