Picked up this 200 pt title after reading some positive reviews of the iPhone/iTouch version, and so far I am generally pleased with my purchase. It's a 1 player puzzle game that takes place on a 7x7 grid, and the game mechanics are reminiscent of "Lights Out". You lay colored tiles down at your own pace (no clock or hazards to race against), and attempt to set up high scoring patterns/combos while working within the rules of placement. Once you get a tile/group of tiles surrounded or cornered by a different colored group, the tiles in the middle are cleared and the surrounding tiles take on their color.
There's a leaderboard (local only, no WiFi) that saves the top scores and lets you enter your name for posterity, and the usual assortment of sound and music sliders in the options menu.
All in all, a good game for the price, especially if you're looking for more of a slow paced, thinkers puzzle game.

EDIT: Wow, 6 hours later and still no replies. Guess you guys have had your fill of DSiWare puzzlers.
Well, I'm finding the more I play it the more I like it, so hopefully someone else chimes in with their opinion. If you want to compare scores, my current best is 123,494 points.

Are there any other DSiWare games like it or similar to it? I hate it when developers leave vauge descriptions of their games and force us to try to figure it out on our own.

Exactly.

Not really. The original concept is by Jason Rohrer, who is known for his unique way of approaching game development. His other titles, like Passage are very unique and do a bit to show video games as less of a plaything, and more of a form of art.

Do you know of any gameplay videos or trailers for it? I'd really like to get it but can't really wrap my head around this concept.

Exactly.

There's a trailer on youtube if you search for "primrose dsiware". Wish I could post a link for you, but I'm stuck on the Wii browser for now.

Just watched the trailer a couple of times. While it looks like a nice game, I think I'll wait for the review. It does help a lot, though.

I got this last night after work and like it so far. Seems pretty simple and soothing, not bad for 200 coins. You can tell they put some work into this little game and it shows. I love puzzlers so bring em on! Can never get enough of them. I would have posted last night but my internet was spotty lol... So far I am giving it a 7/10 or 8/10 for what it is...

Yay, someone else got it ! Yeah, 7 or 8 is about what I predict from NL's review. Guess I'd give it an 8 if I had to score it. They did a good job porting it to the DSi, but I prefer the originals retro neon look to the nature theme they added for this version. As long as the gameplay is intact though, that's what's important I suppose.
What's your high score, BTW?

Not as high as yours I'm sure! LOL. I think it's the last name on the scoreboard like 2,750 or something. I guess I haven't quite became hooked on it as much as you have. Still working on making chains, etc, found it difficult at first and still scratching my head trying to figure it all out. Love it though!

Yeah, I'm swamped with new games this week too. I picked up a point card in anticipation of Shantae and Rytmik, and opted to catch up on some titles I had missed instead of saving them. I got Flame Tail, Animal Color Cross, Soul of Darkness and Primrose. Really enjoying them all.
Updated my high score in the 1st post, BTW.

Great game, although lacking in strategy a bit. You can just keep swapping the colour of one square to continue surviving and racking up points (although slowly). Easy way to get high score: try to make the grid nearly dominated by one colour - once I managed to get more than 50% of the grid green and I got almost 40,000 points when they changed to another colour.

after my first hour of playing it, my high score is at 36,182. At first, the game was okay.. but the more i play it, the more enjoyable I find it to be. This is a great game with the only flaw being the music, which i really think could have been better and have had more of. The only 200 point game (that i've played) that i find to be a better deal is Aura Aura Climber, but to me, that game set a high standard for inexpensive dsiware games.

I'll offer a tip for optimising your score: if you watch the trailer, you'll see a combo that goes across the board from one corner to the other. This seems to be the highest scoring tactic, and I always begin by attempting to set it up as such. Then, once you trigger the wave, you can go for another using the same tactic. I ended up with 80,000 points after 2 such waves once when I was dealt just the colors I needed.

I cant' seem to get my score beyond 1,000 something. What are you guys doing that I'm not? I actually score better if I just randomly place tiles here and there, and I have tried the "filling up 50% of the board with one color" trick and it didn't seem to pan out in the end. Any more help or ideas?

Well I think I will save the 2$ and spend them in other better games like Paperfield and just play it for the computer.
