Will this release include both Book One and Book Two? I haven't started on Shadow Dragon yet, and there doesn't seem to be much point in doing so if I can just wait and play both Shadow Dragon and the sequel on one cartridge...

Well, the original game IS on the Japanese VC, and Fire Emblem games are easy enough to play in Japanese as long as you can navigate around the menus.
Easy, maybe, but not as enjoyable. I definitely wouldn't be able to finish a whole game like that.
I can't read Japanese. Is this Monsho no Nazo, the remake of the original, or perhaps just Book Two (since Shadow Dragon was "Book One")? Or is it the third completely new game, Seisen no Keifu? I've briefly played translations of most of the games, and I can't say I was much a fan of the giant maps of the SNES games, but I'd have liked to try Book Two since I quite enjoyed Shadow Dragon. Hopefully I'll be able to borrow a DS for this.
I prefer my Fire Emblem on Wii, too, Sean. I hope this doesn't mean they aren't working on a new one still, but that does seem unlikely now. Hopefully they aren't planning to remake too many more before resuming the new ones. Though it is nice that the old games are getting Western releases now, I'd have rathered quick VC translations than these DS games that distract from the series' continuation.
@Adam: the subtitle says 'shin monshou no nazo, hikari to kage no eiyuu', roughly meaning 'new monshou no nazo, hero of light and shadow'. idk what that means to the story aside from it being a remake, though, as i've never played a FE game and don't know what's up :3

Well, I like being able to read the story bits/character interaction, so I'll pass on the Japanese VC release. Now if there was a localised version that would be another story. How about a compilation disc: "The original Fire Emblems, released with English subtitles for the first time ever!" Heck they could just do a port of the DS versions and I think most people would be happy.
I liked Shadow Dragon, But it felt a bit to easy and Short, even on Hard Mode. But its The 2nd Best Fire Emblem I played, 1st Being Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones for GBA, and It had more Choiceis, and a Place were you Can Train Your Team, That way, if you had a new Team mate join you, and it was to Weak to put on the Team, you can Train it.
I disliked Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, I found it to be Boring, and I wish they have had done more with it..
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
I was hoping they'd do Gaiden next. I think it did allow you to grind in areas, and I THINK it did away with the weapon-breaking feature. Might have had some exploration, but I only really got to the last fight of the first chapter (I think).
(yes, I say that even though I just imported complete copies of both Famicom games)
@JumpMad: i never much liked Radiant Dawn, either, and my favorite is Path of Radiance. Sacred Stones was good, but the tower felt cheap. Fire Emblem isn't supposed to be about training your new teammates so that they're on par with the rest. it's careful strategy so that you can get that unit experience in battle without getting him/her killed. it makes the gameplay slower, but it also makes it a far more mentally challenging experience, and a much more rewarding one.
anyway, i've yet to get Shadow Dragon, but i will one of these days. i'll probably pick this one up, too, when it's out. i LOVE me some fire emblem.

Well, King Mike, though Gaiden is my favorite Japan-only Fire Emblem, it makes sense to do Book 2 next since it is a direct sequel to the original. I'd rather finish this story first. Hopefully if more remakes come, Gaiden will be next, as it is a really interesting game in the series.
Unfortunately they kept the Shadow Dragon art style, but the character creation seems kinda interesting and it looks like the story elements will be more interesting than in Shadow Dragon.
I think one the biggest additions is the reported casual mode which makes it so your units don't permanently die.
