Topic: Final Fantasy V & VI DS?

Anyone heard/seen any rumors? After the terrific IV remake (and I assume III, which I never picked up) I'm really hoping they do V and VI the same way...but I would've expected to hear something by now.

It wouldn't be a surprise by any means and I'd bet good money it will happen at some point, but for now we're currently getting a similar style remake for SaGa 2 (A.K.A Final Fantasy Legend II) so it could be awhile before it happens

Im sure.... they will milk that train as long as they can and I will keep on buying. Hope VII makes PSP this week on Classics as well.

i didn't like Final Fantasy IV, so i traded it in for Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time

i like it alot more, since it isn't turn based!

Stuffgamer1

They're remaking Final Fantasy Legend II but not the first one? Why do it out of order?
Plus, they're still working on Dragon Quest VI right now, I think. They'll probably get back to FF after those, though.

I never bothered with Echoes of Time because I didn't really enjoy Ring of Fate although I did play all the way through it.

EDIT - Of course I really enjoy turn based stuff. I liked Chocobo's Dungeon on the Wii and really enjoyed FF Tactics on the DS.

I'm burned out on all FF titles. The last one I played was FFV for GBA.

Was Final Fantasy Legend on the SNES? I think I may have rented it once.

Hmmm I'm not sure what to think about it. Final Fantasy V I don't really care about, but I think Final Fantasy VI should just be left as it is. As it's perfect as it is and I think a remake would probably ruin it, because more people would play that version than the old one. I mean I bet they wouldn't even keep the awsome Kefka laugh =0.

You may be thinking of the Final Fantasy Spin-off on the SNES, Mystic Quest, which is also known as Mystic Quest Legend in Europe.

Ah, yep...you are right. That's the one I was thinking of. Mystic Quest, I remember that now. I don't remember enjoying it too much. It seemed like it was very easy and geared toward young children...but that was quite some time ago, so I could be wrong.

FFVI should get the same treatment Chrono Trigger did, that would make an already awesome game even better

I think they should just stay consistent with the style they use for the remakes. I wouldn't buy VI if they remake it on the DS the same way they did Chrono Trigger, seeing that I bought the remake for the GBA and there would be very little change from that version, which wasn't even released that long ago. Sure, there would be the little editions but for me, it wouldn't be enough to warrant a second purchase. Only if they remade it like they did with III and IV would I consider it.

I still need to buy the Chrono Trigger DS Remake. Can't believe I haven't gotten it yet

It's unknown why they're remaking the second game first. Maybe it's something to do with the Mobile phone port of the first game in Japan.

Well if they did it like Chrono Trigger, I don't see what much else they could do that would be different from the GBA version. And while I am glad Chrono Trigger was remade for the DS, I just think FFVI wouldn't be good in 3D like the other FF DS remakes. And more people would play that version than the original classic.

I wouldn't want a 3D FFVI either, but i don't have the GBA version so the Chrono Trigger treatment would be awesome.

Why would you care if more people played the 3d remake over the original though? It's not like it affects you in any way

They ported the first one to cell phones in Japan? I'm getting REALLY tired of these Squenix cell phone games. You never even know if we're going to get it at all, or it what format if we do! Though WiiWare seems to be a popular choice, I know that PSP is as well, so it's obviously a variable. I still think that game devices are for games, not cell phones. Cell phone games are a totally ludicrous concept.

Because I don't think it would be anywhere as good as the original, so I would rather people played the original and get more fun out of it . Of course it doesn't affect me anyway, if there was a 3D version its up to them which version they choose.
