Topic: Extreme Hangman First impressions

Hangman.... to the Extreme! I am considering this, but I want some opinions first. Does it live up to its name?

I have it for my ipod touch. It's just a simple hangman game, but there are cute little stick man animations that play if you get a word right or wrong.
There's nothing really unique gameplay wise about it but I can say for 2 bucks you can't really go wrong, however if you have an Iphone or touch it's only a buck on the app store.

I don't like the idea that its only 2 players. I can play hangman with more people simply using paper irl, myNotebook, or even Pictochat.

i actually belive that the single player game is just enough to consider this, because you cant just play traditional hangman by yourself.

well i got the game so here's my pseudo review:

The graphics are VERY basic, some white lines there a few sprites here and a green background everywhere is all you will be seeing, sometimes the animation of the stickman looks weird but its quite good anyways.

The words are fairly variated, and are distributed in categories like movies, grammies, animals, etc, it doesnt has a "everyday" category with more usual words, though. And they can be VERY hard to guess, specially the animals, well atleast for me (who, i must repeat, doesnt talks english naturally so its even harder to me). You get six tries to guess the word and two hints, that use one try each.

There are a few nice animation themes, like the classical hangman in the old wild west, zombie attack, spy, etc, and you can select them to random too.

Don't bother using the buttons, the touch controls are fairly more responsive.

Music is awfully basic, theres a creepy tune in the start screen, a chime for choosing the right letter and another one for the wrong one and a winning song, i must say that the last "correct" chime gets cut because the "winner!" song starts while its playing, the game even asks you if you want the music on or off at the start of the game, like a cellphone game D:.
The game keeps track of your winning %, your guessing %, your longest winning and losing streaks and a rating based on your winning %.

Multiplayer is kind of nice, you make a word and your friend tries to guess it, then your friend makes up a word for you guess, and so on until someone wins 3 times (or if both won 3 times each, until someone loses), you may just do the same in a chalkboard at school or a piece of paper, though.

I give it a 5/10 which is not bad, im sure it will be fun every now and then, but i know for certain that i wont be playing it all day or every day for that matter.

I'm curious about the multiplayer. Do you pass it around the room, or does everyone need a DS?

Sounds like the new Mixed Messages to me.

well, just like mixed messages, you could just do it with paper.
also, the game registers only two players, player 1 and player 2, its not like you cant get more people to guess the words or make groups, though.

I think for 200 points its pretty much what we've come to expect from those 200 pt games. I agree with Abgar on his review up above, but since I'm a word fanatic (love Scrabble and Bookworm, etc) I would give this a 6/10 but the music is pretty irritating after a bit. Also, some of the topics/categories are misleading... When playing the "Sitcom" category it gave me the clue of "Sex and the City" and the word in question was "Lawyer" ?????
