Topic: European DS exclusives?

So I thought I'd finally try my hand at this Region-free DS gaming stuff, and I was wondering exactly what games for DS were released only in Europe, so I can import them. Can anyone tip me off to some good ones and how much would it cost to import them to the US?

I'm pretty sure I think I'm funnier than I really am.

@sykotek: Well, reading the Wikipedia article for the game, it seems quirky and interesting, but I don't know if it would be worth the importing cost.

@SilverBlacktail: Its worth playing, I imported 3 copies about a year back, sold one to a coworker(he loved it) and I kept one, gave the other to my girlfriend. Its fun and humorous, quirky definitely, but fun. Importing anything worth importing from outside your region is gonna be expensive, if you plan on importing, get used to it. I imported a few DS titles and that was the only title I got from Europe, I mostly import from Japan and about once a year from Korea whenever a special limited release of DJ Max Portable(PSP) comes out there. I only know of one other title that was released in Europe that never reached our shores, at least in DS form,

I've never played it though. I think its been released in the Apple store, but I will never own an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad ever again, not that I'm sure its worth playing.

I guess if you don't have a DSi,

It'd be a lot cheaper and much more convenient if you own a DSi though, then you could just download it instead of importing it, its also been released on the Wii.

@sykotek: Yeah, I have a DSi, so Chronos Twins is out of the question. But Giana Sisters looks interesting.

I vaguely recall Giana Sisters from the old PC days long ago, and if I remember right it was an admirable and fun title in the vein of a copycat of the classic Super Mario Bros style.

Isn't Giana Sisters in Germany only (for now)?

I wish we got Sands of Destruction though as well.

Main Final Fantasy & Quest/Shinobi Team fan...but I do like many SEGA games and a few Nintendo games.

I can be cute if I want to be, but I choose not to...as it's not my style.

I own three European DS titles: Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, Maestro! Jump in Music, and Chronos Twins. All top shelf and worth what it cost me to import them.

Plain old gamer :)

I wonder why we "Americans" can't get are hands on this Game.

For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

Tingle gets a bad rap and he's misunderstood as being homosexual (zealots in America find that to be an issue). It was partly Nintendo of America's fault for putting up a poll on their website on whether to release the game here or not (I've never heard of that happening prior or since) and sadly, enough people (and critics such as the reviewers at IGN) decided that if they didn't want it, no one should be given an opportunity to buy or play it and voted in the poll against its release here. Its a shame too, its a good game and most people won't get a chance to experience it because bigots decided that no one should be able to buy it in NA. Too bad, its their loss, hopefully the sequel comes out in Europe soon, so I can import and play it.

What's worse (regarding Tingle's non-release in North America) was that by the time I heard about the game (and due to it's modest release), all shops are sold out of the game - Ironically to the many North American fans of Tingle who were told they didn't want a game featuring him.

And btw. Don't bother buying Maestro! - you won't find it anywhere else but eBay (and that's rare).

If I was to make a suggestion myself (I don't know if it's too early to call it an exclusive), and you're able to understand and write sheet music, I'd recommend the Daigasso EU port "Jam with the Band". It's main game resembles old school Pop 'n' Music, but the most interesting part is where you can create your own tracks (and submit songs from a very restrictive list). I knew NOTHING about sheet music initially, so I'm getting by, but a real music fan would probably love it.

I remember voting down Tingle. He's an annoying effeminate little prat, a true bane on the normalcy of the Zelda franchise. 'Gay' never crossed my mind until others went into that angle and I could see that, but more just the stupid dancing around, being an over sized man child, perpetually aggravating and out of place. I was so happy not to have to suffer putting up with it in Wind Waker until the end he showed up and I was forced to deal with the nutter. But you're probably right, to Americans he's going to come off as a homosexual and/or a fruitcake, annoying to no end, and obviously that played into that poll and media slamming of the character.

@J.K.: I'm just curious. When you were voting down Tingle, did you realize you were taking part in depriving other gamers from being able to purchase and play the game? Cause that was what the NOA poll was about, whether they should release Tingle in the US. I'm pretty sure you didn't or else you'd be a bigot and I'd like to think most people are reasonable. I don't get why most people voted to not have it released. Its simple really, if you don't like it, don't buy it, don't stop others who actually would want to buy it from being able to or cause them to have to jump through hoops in order to buy a copy through importing.

Considering how popular the Zelda games are, I don't quite get why that this of all games would be confined exclusively to the European market (aside from the Irish [?] cultural influences).

At least you guys get region exclusives. The only Australian exclusive games we have are either localised versions of European games (such as Deal or No Deal), or sports games that don't quite live up to the standards of those published by the big name companies.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
