Hi all, Im brand new to this forum as never had a DS before and I bought a DSi XL untested last week. It turns on and the the top screen comes on and works fine, but the bottom screen is completely blank. I can hear clicking noises when i touch it and it does select different menu options etc but I obvs can see what im doing because its blank. I have looked this up and the exact symptoms of my DS i cannot find online. Anyone able to give me any advice on if I need a new screen or could it be a loose connection etc. I am happy to have a go at fixing it myself but i would like some advise before I go steaming in.

Thanks for any help in advance

Dan

@ReverendMayhem You can try this:
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a...

You can also try switching it off, then holding L, R and start while switching it on, to (hopefully) get into touch screen calibration mode, and then see where it goes from there.

But if none of that works, then it's more than likely off to the repair shop...

Thanks both, and Thanks for the link ThanosReXXX. I will try this when I get home and fingers crossed I can get it working again If not then perhaps I will have to try swapping the screen out

If the screen itself doesn't look physically broken, and you have some experience with opening and checking electronics, you could also try opening it up to see if all the ribbon cables are conected properly.

@ReverendMayhem You're welcome. Be sure to let us know if you got it to work again.

@ThanosReXXX so I tried the the button combo and it went into calibration mode but the touch screen was still blank. The backlight for the screen does come on though. I suppose the next step is taking it apart and checking for loose connections?

@ReverendMayhem If you feel confident enough to open it up and check to see if you can find something possibly being amiss, then you could always try. Perhaps its just a loose connector or dirt, causing disturbance in the connection.

Sadly I have taken it apart and all seems to be ok. I honestly thought I would find a lose connection or something but all looks fine. The lower LCD also looks ok to me. I dont really want to replace the lower screen just to find that its something else thats wrong but I guess thats my only option
