Topic: DSi Warranty

A few days ago my DSi's L and R buttons completely stopped working. I was thinking about sending it in to Nintendo when I realized that my warranty had expired. (It expired a little under 2 months ago). I know that on Club Nintendo, if you register your system you get an additional 3 months of warranty added on to the original warranty date. I was wondering if its possible to get another 3 months of warranty even though mine expired? I hope that made sense.

And if anyone knows a way to fix the buttons without blowing into them or sticking something (including your tongue) in the button that would be great.

Help is very appreciated.

I don't know for sure, but I think you could probably get away with it, so you might as well try registering it and see. It is a common problem, so they really should be responsible for fixing it.

Call them, be distraught but nice with them. Often if you're a month or two out Nintendo doesn't care and will take care of it, just don't come off acting like you're going for it and you may be in luck. My old DSL some years ago had an issue and swapped it at a store, and the morons never registered it right as they should. As it stood the system was just out of warranty had they done it right. The lady considering they were idiots, and it was just like a month out, she repaired it free of charge which was nice as my touch panel on the bottom was broken as it shifted the 'tap' to the screen a 1/4inch offset to the right.

Which warranty are you talking about?.......There is the 30(90 if you sign up with Club Nintendo) day warranty that exist after you, that can fix anything even if its you fault and there is the 1 year thats which can only fix the defects and factory issues.

@Funky Gamer: You should definitely contact Nintendo to see what they have to say, they're pretty understanding and in my experience will go the extra mile to help you. If you don't get what you're looking for through Nintendo then a common way of fixing the issue is to grab a bottle of compressed air and blow into the area where the button depresses in order to clear out buildup.

When my DSi's buttons crapped out, I was short of the 1 year mark, I requested not to get a refurb, they fixed the issue and extended my warrantee by another year.

Definitely do not French kiss your DSi. Well, at least not in public or around family members, but in case you decide to, please upload a vid to youtube and post it here.

This is awesome! I registered my DSi on Club Nintendo, and my warranty has extended. So if you are going to send your DSi into Nintendo but your warranty has ended within 3 months, you can still get an extended warranty.
