Topic: Dsi Update 02-02-10

I dont know what it does yet but there is an update. Anyone notice something different?

After updating, I'm still on Version 1.4E, so I don't expect it does anything more than fix a few bits and bobs and iron out a few creases.

idk what it does, but apparently they're not blocking DSi Shop access if you don't update, so whatev'. :3

After massive inspection of every feature on every program, I see nothing different. Not even the version number it is still 1.4U but it updated. Perhaps it is a bug fix or more anti piracy?

Well, that's just plain weird. Usually even bug fixes will get their own update number! Well, maybe not with Nintendo. They don't seem to have any provisions for x.xX numbers, which is where little fixes usually go (at least on Sony firmware).

Whatever. It only took about 20 seconds to update anyway.

EDIT: After I "updated," I checked the update button again out of curiosity. Wouldn't you know, it still claims there's an update! I think Nintendo screwed something up. Chances are, running the "update" doesn't actually do anything at all!

You'll only notice huge differences if the first number in the update changes.

This one looks like they just fixed a couple of bugs

I did an experiment, and apparently there will always be an "update" even if it doesn't do anything.

it will always say there is an update, but if you have the latest it will pop up with a window saying "This version of the system software is up-to-date. The system will now shut down."

Oh, right you are, jangonov. I hadn't checked that far before. Well, I'm stumped. This update was short and apparently pointless.

I didnt know there was an update, but the DSi Shop is working fine for me, even though I have not updated yet...

You do know the updating process takes about a minute, right?

@Blue_cat: Apparently there's a malfunction in the system where an update always appears even if your DSi is updated.

I hacked my DS to run a constant multi-process update loop. It checks for and updates 64 times a second.

Unfortunately it's impossible to play games on it.
