True :) Based on this data I can see that the screens make the body HUGE.

I saw the pics. They changed how the speakers look. And it reminds of DS Phat just smaller and less bulk :)

For all the Japanese illiterate (like myself LOL):

Edit: I'm still waiting for a conversion from millimeters to inches. I can't think in the metric system!

Second Edit: Here's an interesting pic on this site that I just found through Tails86's new webzine:

Holy smokes, that's a huge portable.

Reminds me of old DS Phat! But with style!

:) Yes, I agree. Nintendo has jumped back on it's trend of thinning the system out. However, this one definitely has advantages over the DS Phat with the nice big screens.

Here's a comparison from Nintendo's site: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/dsiLL/index.html#/size/

It is monstrous compared to the DSi and DS Lite. I would love to see the Phat next to it just to see.

Man, from what I've heard it's bigger than the Phat, and even weighs more than the phat and the original PSP model....pffffft. Why the heck are they making a new DSi at that size, and this soon after it's original release? I wonder what games are going to look stretched to a size that big.

Let's see........... :| I guess for practical use, the Dsi wins hands down, but I can see plenty of advantages in this new one.

That's why you're still a kid.

For the Americans:

DSPhat: Width - 5.85 in. Height - 3.33 in. Depth - 1.14 in. Weight - 275 g/.61 lbs Screen - 3 in./76.2mm
DSLite: Width - 5.24 in. Height - 2.91 in. Depth - .85 in. Weight - 218 g/.48 lbs Screen - 3 in./76.2 mm
DSi: Width - 5.39 in. Height - 2.95 in. Depth - .74 in. Weight - 214 g/.47 lbs Screen - 3.2 in./81.3 mm
DSi LL: Width - 6.34 in. Height - 3.6 in. Depth - .83 in. Weight - 314 g/.69 lbs Screen - 4.2 in./106.7 mm

If you like your big old DS Phat, now might be the time to upgrade. I don't want my DSi any bigger though to make it easier to carry around.

Just for Fun!

Sega Game Gear: Width - 209 mm/8.23 in. Height - 111mm/4.37 in. Depth - 37mm/1.46 in.
Screen Size - 81 mm/3.2 inches
Weight - 400 g/.88 lbs. (I'm guessing this is without batteries, b/c it was HEAVY).

So at least it's smaller than something!

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Wow, that thing is freaking huge but I have to admit that it does look really nice. If I didn't already own a DSi I would have considered getting one.

Yeah. I think it's too big.

And honestly I have no idea who this is targeting. People keep saying people with vision problems, but wouldn't they just skip a handheld all together and get a console system that can play on a TV, or even a PSP that have video out?
It's also hardly portable considering it's actually bigger then the DS Phat, unless you wear really baggy clothes with big pockets, this won't fit in your pocket, and it would be a pain to fit in a regular sized purse.

I keep saying this, but it really is the first time I've seen a company make a hand held device bigger then the previous version. It just makes absolutely no sense to me from a marketing standpoint.
I mean if they really wanted a bigger screen, they could've easily made the original DSi have ALMOST a 4 inch screen without making it much bigger (probably a few millimeters).

I dunno... Maybe if they actually explain who it's for.

@Hardy83 - Look at the games that they came installed, the colors, the pen like stylus: It is aimed at elder gamers, not necessarily people with bad vision. Elder people feels more comfortable with biger devices. The main market is japan who has a fast aging population.

OT: Is pretty big. I dunno why people is making such a big deal. You don't like it' don't buy it. period.

Actually, I'd consider buying this for my mother. I almost bought her a DSi, but I worried she'd have problems with the small screen size (she lost an eye to cancer). But when this comes out in North America, I might just get it for her. There's a few games that I know she'd enjoy (Walk With Me and Sight Training).
