I got myself a blue DSi yesterday, I did upgrade from a DS Lite [I do have the original DS also] I havn't really played any of DS games since i've boughten it! I find that the features are a lot of fun to play with, and I would say it's worth the upgrade. I also really like the feel of this DS!

i figured out why I was only able to see 237 music files.
Apparently DSi has a folder size limit of 100 files, and since I didn't have my music files under any directory on my SD card but had them all on the top. DSi's the top level must have a file limit around 237.
The workaround to this is to create folders on your SD card and fill each folder up to the folder limit, which is 100 songs per folder.
Now I can access all 450 songs.

What types of Wi-Fi encryption does the DSi support? I know my DS Lite only supports one kind (can't remember the name) and its not WPA, which is what my home network uses. If the DSi supports WPA encryption, I might consider upgrading, but if not, I will just get the Wi-Fi connect attachment for my desktop and wait to upgrade until a game comes out that requires a DSi.

here's what you can choose from under Advanced Setup --> Manual Setup --> Security (Change Security Settings):
WEP
WPA-PSK(TKIP)
WPA2-PSK(TKIP)
WPA-PSK(AES)
WPA2-PSK(AES)

if you don't go through Advanced Setup (you just choose a connection and go to Manual Setup through there), all you can choose is WEP under Security Settings.

Awesome. Thanks. I will look into a DSi then. Graduation is soon and that means cash for spending on things I want but don't need =D

I just unboxed it and played around with it for alittle while. This is coming from a person who's never played a gameboy since the old grey brick ahem here we go.

First impression was OMFG is that a manual or an encyclopedia? The stack of paper you get with this baby is not only humongous but also alittle sad, especially when all that's needed is the simple quick start guide. I can see where greenpeace got their idea about Nintendo being the electronics company which produces the biggest waste of all.

Went on to check on the DSi itself. I like the matt finish of the thing, the size and slimness of this little machine is pretty amazing considering what it contains. I must say though, that even if it's pretty small by comparison to my old brick it's not something I can carry around in my pockets, and that had me a little dissapointed, only way to bring this baby outside is in your hands or if you got a handbag(for ladies). I'll definately look into some kind of a waist bag for it or something... Too bad i'm not a baggy pants kind of guy with huge pockets.

Turning the system on was a nice surprise however after the size issue. Crisp big displays with a quality that would even make my cell-phone cry. The first few minutes I setup name, date, time, favorite color etc. Aside from the great screens the sound it output was pretty good as well by any standards.

After that I went through a 20 minutes of setting it up with parental controls and all that, then it asked me to take my picture. And i'm pretty impressed, this coupled with the photo diary that comes with makes this a pretty neat feature. I checked out the DSiware shop, and surprise! there's hardly anything on there, at least not something that I found myself attracted to. The 1000 free points is nice and all, but i'll keep them until something comes along that catches my eye.

Going online with the system was as easy as 1-2-3, i was up and running with my wi-fi connection in a couple minutes. I noticed that the battery was running low after toying around alittle, so it's now turned off and charging, so actually playing on the system will have to wait for a couple hours.

I'll get back with more impressions on actually playing on the DS after it's done, having the system coupled with Chrono Trigger and FFA2 i'm sure i'll have nothing but good things to say about it.

Overall i'm pretty impressed so far!

wow thats one big topic you almost took up one page. please leave space for the others
i think the dsi is like a import of the wii onto the ds but its not all like that
if your getting your dsi exspect the very best nintendo has to offer

This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

Well, i've had it for a week now, and i'm still loving it. Hard at work with Chrono Trigger as we speak.

I don't think I could handle it if they made it any thinner. I think the DS Lite is too thin as it is. I'm not looking foward to when I get a DSi which is even thinner than the DS lite.

speaking of flimsy, i've noticed that when i'm playing a game and holding on to the DSi firmly (i'm right-handed, so i naturally hold on to it with my left hand if i'm playing a game), the cover for the battery has a little bit of play in the middle (between the two screws, it squeaks/pops up a bit when i let it go after gripping). i don't remember that happening with my DS Lite at all... it kinda weirds me out. :/

I gotta say I love the DSi, not just the camera and sound. The support with SD card's are nice and you can download games on it is one of the main reasons I want it. It has a virtual console now that has gameboy games which is awesome. I hate the DSi for not having a GBA slot and they are having you pay for GBA games on the Virtual Console for the DSi

Cheezy

I'm getting mine soon, I can't wait, it seems pretty cool. probably over the weekend.
