OK here goes: What do you want to see or expect from Nintendo in a few years when it's time to release a whole new portable system, which I shall call DSi 2 for now. Here's what I came up with:
1. 480x720 resolution (aka standard defintion tv) on two 4" screens with wireless video output so one screen can be played on a tv.
2. dual analog controls and pressure sensitive trigger (L/R) buttons.
3. use of disc media, like 8cm GC size discs. All games could be optionally downloaded. No more cartridges!
4. backward compatible with GC and DS games. GC game saves could be stored on a DS sized memory card or hard drive.
5. full audio and video (480p) playback. So it will kick iphone's a$$
6. A Wii-style virutal console, with access to GB, GBC, GBA, TurboExpress, Lynx, NeoGeo Pocket, Wonderswan, and if possible, Virtual Boy! (already gonna happen?)
7. how about, oh, maybe a frakin' hard drive. 10GB min. Aw hell, if ipods can hold 80GB, so can this.
8. Tilt-sensitive control options.
9. Useful applications such as built in browser/email, GPS/maps, calandar/planner etc. Emphasis on USEFUL
10. Online profiles complete with Miis. Call is MiiSpace if you will.
Ok, I'm sorry but I think your DS-2 is aa very bad idea: 1) For games to run at that resolution Nintendo would either need to sacrifice graphics quality or increase the price by about $80. 2) Dual analog would be good, hopefully they learn from the PSP. 3) Again, hopefully they learn from the PSP. Discs suck ass. The 8cm discs would be way too huge and get scratched in your pocket. Cartridges can also be accessed about 10x faster than a disc, and can support expansion cartridges (like the SNES) to hinder piracy. Feel free to compare the difference in loading times on a PSP vs a DS, remembering the PSP has about 8x the RAM and triple the CPU. 4) It would be a bad idea on Nintendo's part to put in a slot for games they don't sell. B/C with the DS is likely, though. 5) Maybe, but probably not 480p because of the costs involved. It will also never kick iPhone's ass because it will be bigger and less portable. 6) Yes please! 7) Unless there will be a huge amount of digital distribution (please!), an SD slot would more than suffice. 8) That would be expensive and just get in the way. On the iTouch/iPhone it's a real pain in the ass mostly and dual analog, touch screen and digital should be enough. 9) Native homebrew/app support would be nice, but about as likely as me waking up tomorrow and finding out I have a cat. 10) Online profiles!? Nintendo still uses friend codes! Haven't you heard of parental paranoia and pedophiles before?

that's a heck of idea there..but theres one problem do you think people would buy such a thing..waht i mean is with such features..you don't expect it to be cheap do you??
OK Corbie, I'll give you the gameboy touch NO buttons, everything is touchscreen, one screen, and you can only download games. Just like th I-Phone/I-Pod Touch.

Great ideas!! but I would like to keep cartriges and analog control isn't that big of a deal to me. The bigest thing I want is a gameboy VC!!!
I don't want another DSi. I want a Gameboy with a single screen again. There, I said it.
I think Nintendo could give us a new gameboy and keep the DSi, back when the gamecube was around we had the DS and GB Micro all at once!......i'm just saying!
HOW ABOUT INSTEAD OF DSi 2 call it the SDS (super DS).
built in solar cells, heat-to-energie-compensator and something that turns your daily walk into engery. so i never have to load that little thingy again
Disks would be a bad idea, it would turn it from a handheld to a portable console, and there is a big difference between the 2, Nintendos success has been in not trying to simply squeeze a console down to size, like the gamegear or PSP.
I was telling my dad about my NDSi and he gave me two very possible ideas: A sensor like in the wii that senses movement, as for tilting or an action as stirring somthing in a cooking game. And he also gave the idea of a small GPS sensor ( They fit into phones dont they?) for maps.
