Topic: DS makes weird noise, scares the crap out of me.

So, while waiting for a video to load on my PC, I started playing Phantom Hourglass on my original DS.
During the Ocean Temple, Link screws up. I expect him to jump off one of the walls while holding one of the shape blocks. Nope, he drops on the wall and leaps down to the floor below. Now I get trapped by the Phantom trying to retrieve it. I'm like "****!!" (okay, I realize that's an over-reaction)
But then my DS stopped making normal sound and instead make an ear-piercing buzzing noise.
Activating sleep mode seemed to return the sound to normal, but I wonder what that was about.
Did I activate some kind of anti-cussing mechanism?
(heh. With the Wii's motion controls behind it to fight flab, the next Wii can put voice control so it can punish us for cussing while playing Nintendo Hard games. )

My very first DS did that, but it was under a one year warranty at Gamestop, so I returned it (that and the volume switch was a bit finicky) and they gave me a new one.

GET TO DA CHOPPA!!! DE BUILDING IS ABOT TO EXPLODE!!!

Seriously, I have no idea why that would happen. Maybe it's the DS card coming ever-so-slightly out of the holder and back in the slot in a flash, but it's highly unlikely.

Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar.

WARNING: This thread used to dead, but it's alive again. Don't worry people, it's all fine.

@KingMike: I've been searching Google for a solution, because the same thing occurred to me today, coincidentally also whilst playing Phantom Hourglass (although I've never heard that noise before). Your description seems to match what I heard, something in between a car horn and a buzzer. Anyway, I was wondering (if can even remember this at all), have you found a solution in all these years? I'm thinking it is the game itself, but my DS is the original launch model from 2005, so it has been around for a while as well...

How could you!!!
...It never happened to me, actually...my sister accidentally poured water on her 3DS before and a day later it made a weird, VERY LOUD, noise. Freaked her out because it never happened to her before. >.<
Despite the graphics getting all messed up at that moment, it went back to normal after that, lol

I think I'm gonna stop bringing my 3DS to class. Imagine if that happened during a test!

Got married.

I'm think it might've been a one-time thing. I haven't heard any other weird noises.

@Morpheel: I don't hope so!

@Megumi: Perhaps it was the water? Too much water in Phantom Hourglass...
