I have the chance to get a brand new DSi for just £10 more than a new DS Lite, but I'm wondering if it's worth the difference? I doubt I will be a big user of DS Ware, but are there other features which would make it a worthwhile choice to pick the DSi?

honestly, the bigger screens, lighting controls on the fly, non-sliding power button, and better audio quality have done it for me, aside from the DSiWare games I enjoy every so often. The only drawback for me personally has been the loss of the GBA slot, I had to purchase a Micro when some people here started getting me into GBA games, lol, and now I miss not having the few games I'd had before I traded everything in toward my DSi.

There is no comparison, the DS Lite is a huge failure compared to the DSi... The DSi has a nice internet browser, downloadable games, a MUCH MUCH better online service, etc.
Aside from the GBA support, are there any compatibility issues? Will the same games run on both? I'm unlikely to replay any of my GBA games at this stage, so that's not a huge loss.
It looks like the DSi is a clear winner. I'm not really into the extra features, but if it is just better at playing games than its little brother, that may be enough to tip it.
The DSi has some exclusive games or features in games, usually having something to do with the camera. The DSi can play all DS games except for those that require the GBA slot (like Guitar Hero).
@Nintendoftw: The DSi browser is BS, it's slow and annoying, and DSiWare is only good if you're interested in the games, which Kelvin said he doubted he would be. Also, the online for the DSi is irritating considering that you have to still use WEP for DS games, so if you want security for your online purchases you need to have two separate security settings on your router, and there's maybe a handful of actual DSi retail games at the most that take full advantage of its advanced processing power. I disagree strongly with the Lite being a failure in comparison -- if anything, the DSi has disappointed its fans.
that said, i am not aware of any GBA incompatibility issues other than accessories, like the e-reader.

Get both lol. Personally I would just go with the DS Lite but thats me. I dont like the fact how they took out the GBA slot from the DSi just for a camera.
It all depends which features you are going to use more. Like me I have a ton of GBA games that I still play like Golden Sun, Mario Kart, and Super Mario Advanced just to name a few. The Dsware games dont interest me enough to go and run out and buy a DSi. Also I dont need a camera since I have one on my cellphone. If you are interested in the DSware and the camera go with the Dsi. If you want you can probably pick up a GBA Sp fairly cheap to play your GBA games somewhere down the road as well. However if the online capability and the camera doesnt interest you than just go with the DS Lite.

theblackdragon- The point where you said that the online still uses WEP just told me pretty much you don't have a DSi... The DSiware is good a lotof times, the browser has a fanbase which have made a number of DSi- exclusive sites which allow you to go in chatrooms, play games, and etc. The DSi is an amazing system, sadly you don't have it.
I do have a GBA lying around somewhere, so if I do want to play Golden Sun, then I can always get that out. While I couldn't care less about the camera, as I don't have a swanky smartphone, and my iPod is rubbish, the browser and music player features on the DSi are fairly tempting.
Thanks again everyone!

Don't listen to theblackdragon, he doesn't t even own a DSi, just get one, especially if it's only 10$ extra, who in the world would settle for the outdated and crap version over the updated and highly entertaining version.

Objection! tbd has a DSi. And the browser is very slow.

Here are some key features which I bought a DSi for- The DSiware (Which alone makes it worth the extra money), the amazing upgraded online service, flipnote studio, exclsuive games, more processing power, video chat in some games (Like Pokemon Black & White), better menu, receives system updates, and is almost exactly like the Wii in terms of menu, settings, and overall feel.
Yeah don't listen to Nintendoftw, he doesn't seem to know what he's talking about.
I own both a DS Lite and DSi, and I can say for certain that the DSi is a better deal. It has many smaller features (like those tbd listed) that make it better. I love the music player, although it only plays MP4/AAC files (you can use a program like iTunes to convert your current collection to AAC). Photo editing can be entertaining and cool every once in awhile. Not to mention there are some good DSiware titles you could buy.
