Well, that's a shame. Well, I guess it's worth it to revocate in each vacation once then, just for the medal that comes with it.

Exactly.

Okay. Many of you will remember earlier when I was having trouble deciding if I should buy this. I just spent my money on an iPod Touch, and it has been shipped. This will be my next purchase. I am eager to discuss with you on this thread!
Finally! I cannot wait to play!

I've had this game since release date and I have finally started playing it. I'm really early on in the game and I really don't have much time to play games lately. I'm going after the Wight Knight He seems friendly to some and not so friendly to others. Tee hee.

@turt - nooo! No walkthroughs for DQ. Ever. It's the perfectly designed game--no need for a walkthrough ever. Between an impeccably laid out item description window replete with great info and intelligent NPCs and journal entries, there shouldn't ever be an instant where a walkthrough is needed.

I'll admit the lizard stumped me for a while though...until I talked to the NPC who said he liked shadows. Then it was instant

This game is amazing. If you own a DS, buy it. 100+ hours happily spent...might break it out again and check out the DQVC...see waht's available.

Square Enix. Next time--PLEASE give me more than 1 save slot. I'd love to lend it to a friend who's never played DQ, but I can't without deleting my file...and it's kinda hard to say "hey go spend 30-40 bucks on this game! It's good...I promise..."

10/10 actual score; 25/10 murderscore (15 bonus points for the job system implementation, the changes to the alchemy pot, and the game kicking ass in all ways)

@swerd, apparently the walkthrough wasn't completed so I found out myself.
I do dislike using walkthroughs though.

I know I was being mischievous I really just wrote that to make the point that the game has a PHENOMENAL in-game information system. I dunno if I'm gonna be able to appreciate most other turn-based RPGs anymore...it's just so clean and streamlined. Forgot where you found that item? Listed. Forgot what enemy drops it? Listed. Forgot what you're doing? Journal.

Add to that a genious structure/pacing....god I'm gonna replay this game if I keep gushing Sadly I'm stretched pretty thin at the moment gaming-wise...but yeah. DQbama for president.

I know see what all the complaints about only 1 save file are for. I would love to replay this game but I hate renewing RPG's!

In case anyone isn't a vigilant follower of DQVC, you may want to become one. This week's sale is on rare weapons, but while they're all very expensive, they're all worth it, especially if you're not too deep into the game. If you need more cash, fight gold golems south of Gleeba, as each one gives out a whopping 500 gold per kill. If they're easy for you to take down, change vocations on some of your characters and pick up easy skill points and early vocation bonuses like a Thief's Half-Inch or the +10 HP Gladiator bonus.

Exactly.

Is there any point to revocating your team mates except to earn more skill points and the revocation bonus accessories?

If for example, my Paladin has the revocation bonus and all the Paladin related skills she needed, is there any point to her revocating for a second or even third time?

I'm aware that revocation on the main character is important in getting grotto maps, and it's encouraged to revocate as many times as possible.

So I'm playing this again, and finally getting some enjoyment and challenge out of it after 25 hours. Yay.

So my party consists of a Minstrel, Mage, Warrior, and Martial Artist. My Mage has Caduceus, so she can heal people pretty well now; I think my Minstrel needs a class change now... What would ya'll recommend? AFAIK I haven't unlocked any new classes yet, but the gladiator one sounds pretty tempting.

Also, will my Mage ever acquire a revive spell? As of now only my Minstrel can revive people, and it fails most of the time.

Oh, and my party's around level 29 right now. How long would it take to get one of them back up to level after a class change?

I'm just asking because I'm curious how they compare. Dragon Warrior III is the only DQ game I liked so far, and I've played all but DQ6 and DQ9 for at least a few hours.

Minstrels are a stepping stone to the Luminary class, which in my opinion should only be chosen so you can watch their Coup d'etat (try wearing an afro wig). Otherwise, they specialise in dexterity, agility and fans.

The problem I've encountered with gladiators is that they have very little MP (I raised a soldier up to a Gladiator, but found I couldn't even use my Gigagash manoeuvre due to a low natural MP).

But don't let that put you off. I'm in the process of skilling my gladiators as mages/sages/priests - anything that offers a natural MP boost, then I plan to switch them back.

Conversely, my former Sage was perfectly good in her job of healing and blasting, but I realised in between big battles where I didn't necisarily want to waste MP, her attack was too low, so I am in the process of teaching her basic soldier/gladiator/mageknight skills so she'll be even more useful - then I'll change her right back!

Sadly I have no idea what you're talking about. You must be way farther into the game than I am, lol.

I thought HP and MP was specific to each vocation? So why would changing your Gladiator to a Mage affect his MP when he's a Gladiator? Or would it actually not? Is this Gigagash maneuver a skill you acquired from a weapon or something? Bear with me, I haven't even beaten the game yet. I'm at the university in the story right now.

If you have a minstrel (low on attack), you can temporarily switch to a soldier, spend your skill points on skills like "strength +10" as you level up, and then change back to your minstrel, you'll retain your natural +10 strength that you unlocked as a soldier. Or indeed any stat boosts from any class.

The key to success is patching up the natural weaknesses of each member of your team, while improving their natural strengths - otherwise, why would you choose a gladiator if he was going to end up similar to a minstrel.

Ah okay, I think I get it. Awesome.

Also, I don't s'pose there's a way to rename your party members, is there?
