OK since nobody is giving me a response on that other thread that BellGoRiiing started, I'll just post what I posted on this new thread:
I just created a game where you move a little ship from side to side, then press a little button to fire a laser. However, I set the ship to loop animate, but it does not animate! I assure you I have 2 different cels in the animation, but it just doesn't animate! Then when you move the ship, it animates to the move left/move right animation that I set it to. However, the explosion effect on the ship doesn't play, either, when it gets hit by another object! Is it some kind of glitch? Please help!
I have a similar problem a couple of days ago, but sorry, i dont know what is wrong. Maybe a switch needs to be on or something, but i really dont know. Sorry.
Well...The best way for me to tell what the problem is, is to see it. Then I could look at your code and such. Bear in mind that I'm just starting to make my own microgame, but I might be able to figure it out by looking at it and/or fiddling with it. I'd be more than happy to try to help you out if you want to send a copy and are comfortable with that. I only have the ds one at the moment (need to find my debit card).
edit: If you want, I could fix it (if I can) and send it back to you.
Is it the start animation or an AI trigger? If it's a trigger, check all your AI very carefully. Also try using the switch guide (the button next to trial play), and assign sound effects to triggers to see if they're working. Make sure to check if you selected the right art and art settings again.
Edit: For the explosion problem, check your triggers and use the switch guide. Make sure you're turning switches on and off as needed.
OK I finally fixed the problem! I had the starting AI set to loop, yes, but I had one of the instructions say when both of the arrow buttons are off, stop moving the ship. For some reason this disabled the animation whenever the switch on the arrow buttons were off, which is most of the time. Anyway, I split the instruction into 2 separate AI instructions: one saying when one arrow button is off, stop moving ship, and the other saying the same thing for the other arrow button. Then all the animations started working properly. And now I'm happy. Except for the fact that the game recognizes any editing as a "product recall", which apparently kills your sales of the minigame.
