Is it possible to complete your Pokedex on the DSi? I didn't really give it much thought when I upgraded but without the cartridge slot the pal park is useless.
Is it possible through trades or whatever?
How do trades work on wifi? Do you have to have seen the Pokemon first?
I want to know since I recently bought Platinum and am a bit of a completist so this will drive me nuts...

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21.

It's still possible, but I'd think it would be a lot harder. You could complete it with trades, but they'd have to be between people you know. You can only trade for Pokemon you've seen over the GTS (which is incredibly annoying, but I guess it makes sense).

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Aw poop. I only one one guy my age who plays Pokemon and it's the dude at the garage I deliver mail to. When I say I know him I mean I've spoken to him to say hello, lol. I have a bit of a task ahead of me then...

Ah, OK. Is there a thread with trading requests here on the site?

... maybe that is one of the reasons for HG and SS

Yeah I've thought about that too. How could you trade from one cart to the other though? I think a VC release of the old games might be able to sort the problem. I'm not sure though.

Old games can't trade with D/P/Pt. I could see Nintendo doing a Slot 2 emulation thing using GBA games though, to allow Pal Park.

The GB/GBC games, however, will NEVER be connectable to the GBA/DS games. The programs are completely different - stats were handled much differently.

You CAN trade anything on Wi-Fi as long as you have the other person's Friend Code. I host a forum which used to have a section used for the purpose of finding trades using each others' Friend Codes in order to complete the PokéDex. It is a feature we're trying to revive in time for HG/SS. It's dead though, but the link is in my sig if you want to trade with the few members who are left. Maybe you could help revive it?

I'll do that, thankyou. Just let me finish the story in Platinum first and then I'll get right on it. I want to finish the National Dex for once in a Pokemon game...

Heh, to be honest I've never finished a National Dex before either. I'm working on it, though, and hopefully my future SoulSilver will be the first game to be completed.

Also, I just added a trading section.

I think I'll get Silver too. Lugia looks cooler than Ho-oh.
