It's probably that WFC-enabled DSiWare games can't be transferred since they're tied with the system's WFC ID. Hopefully nothing more than that though. (And maybe they'll let you transfer your WFC information to a 3DS, like you can if you buy a new DS system.)
OK I've been hearing cave story this cave story that! Is it really that good? What game does it most compare to? It doesn't look all that special but if it is I will have to pick up the dsi version since it will be portable!

Well I just watched the official Cave Story Nintendo DSiWare trailer and I'm impressed. Hopefully Cave Story will go more 3D on the Nintendo 3DS as in NEXON's EverPlanet 3Dness,

Does anyone know what month Cave Story will be released to the DSiWare service? Or will it be a long before it is released as with WayForward's Shantae?

@TokyoRed - The developer said that when it was announced, they were just fixing bugs and that they hoped they could get it out in time for Halloween. For all we know, it could be out Monday.
According to the Nintendo site, it claims there will be:
20 boss battles
15 levels
10 different unlockable weapons
4 game modes
I've played through Cave Story a few times now, and I don't remember there being 20 bosses. And I certainly don't remember having 10 different weapons. Were there really 15 levels in the game? Either these are extras added to the DSiWare version or I can't count.
@TokyoRed No way. I've written before about this and the port is going to be pretty much an exact replica of the original (with a cropped screen resolution to fit the DS screens). Nicalis respects Pixel's work way too much to tamper with it. Also the dev time on the game is pretty short so there's no way they could do a revamp.
20 bosses, I think, includes those really easy early bosses like the first mutated Mimiga, the extra bosses at the endgame, and also counts all the times you fight Balrog.
