OK so I'm almost done with Chrono Trigger and I'm ready to fight Lavos but I need to know which 3 characters to use.

SPOILER: I chose not to kill Magus so I have him and I also revived Crono.

I've been thinking about going with the combo of Crono, Marle, and Frog so I could use that awesome Triple Tech of theirs, but I want you guys' opinions on the best team to use.

Thanks!

really any team will do well and sometimes triple tech moves wont do well i say, frog, robo, magus/chrono/luca would be good idea i haven't played the game in months

I always did best with Crono, Marle, Robo/Frog

Crono, Marle, and Frog. Yup, you are thinking right. It's what I used, beaten Lavos on first try.

Crono (equipped with Gold Stud for Luminaire) would be doing most of the damage, while Frog is secondary to do that as well as curing. Marle and Frog can greatly cure on their own (and Marle for revive), but Marle + Frog combo for Double Cure is great for big cures to drop on the whole team. Just a few MP recovering items would be used in this team setup.

I prefer to use Crono and Ayla as the fighters, while having either Frog or Marle as the "backup" healers.

Also, Chrono Trigger is an awesome game. I'm going through the New Game Plus right now! =D

Yeah, I was thinking about using Ayla to do that electric bite thing.

I believe you are referring to the Thunder Chomp. That's a move that I would always use on Azala and Black Tyranno!

But what ever you do, don't use elemental techs on the Lavos Pod, which is the one on the left. It absorbs all of the elements. Before you fight all of the Lavos forms, think about your game plan. You don't want to jump in the battle, only to find out you suck!

I know it's been five years since the last post, but thank you all for your suggestions. I was trying like hell to beat Lavos this morning--I was using Crono, Lucca and Robo--but then I switched to Ayla and Marle and I finished the battles no sweat. So yeah, thank you all!

I can see why Crono, Lucca, Robo would be difficult lol. You get some pretty insane offensive output with Crono, Lucca, Ayla though. Wouldn't really recommend for bosses though because healing is crap. Crono, Marle, Frog is my tried and true boss party. Double up on healing, plus some great dual techs.

I think I used Chrono / Frog / Magus.

(The only one I never did was the one where you shortcut straight to the end).
