@caniswolfred You know what? 3DS isn't in the DS family. Here's proof. 1, I emailed Nintendo and it IS a 3DS, not a DS. I'll even give you a screenshot of the email. (But, in a weeks. I emailed them through a DS and I don't have a computer...but, still, expect it. 2. it's "backwards compatible with DS". Backwards usually means in the past, before. If you want to say that the GBA was backwards compatible with GB and GBC, wrong. It could play them, but it wasn't backwards compatible with those. Give me one instance on an official Ninty manual or website that GBA was BACKWARDS compatible with the other GBs. Give me some on 3DS. There's a difference. 3.DSi is still a DS because there wasn't a line of games made specifically for it. DSiWare doesn't count. 4.most of the internal components are different. DSi contained similar things in the DS/lite, but 3DS, not so much. 5.Look at the commercial for the 3DS XL and 2DS. It SPECIFICALLY said "newest addition in the Nintendo 3DS family!".
I hate it when people say the 3DS is just another DS. -.-
I remember my guitar hero ds lite, I liked that it was silver on top while the inside and bottom of the ds was black but then something happened to it and I sent it to get it repaired only for the people at Nintendo to replace it was a normal black one -_- , I liked the midnight blue dsi xl and I like the cosmo black 3ds that I currently have.

The DSi is definitely different it has double the RAM for a start and a region lock for DSi enhanced software.
I don't think either of the 3DS models are desirable to play DS software but they contain everything that is in a DS (Including the weird proprietary wifi that the DS used).

i actually kind of miss my big ol phat ds, but the ds lite was definitely the best version. im not sure if i really like the dsi that much, the menu just feels really low res and clunky.
