Topic: Best Buys 40ft DS Section

My local Best Buy has this enourmous DS Section somewhere in the likes of prob 40ft long. I swear in 40 ft of space that have 39 ft of absolute SHOVELWARE. Im talking Babies Imagine (Everyone of them), Desktop Tower Defense (free online), Games Ive never heard of but are obvious shovelware. Then you can dig and find Mario Kart, NSMB, and Kirby and maybe a few other good DS games. No Disgaea, FFs, Dragon Quest, Atlus Games, Super Princess Peach, they dont even have all the Nintendo games. WTF? I swear its 98% percent shovelware for very young children, does that stuff really sell that well?

what do you expect from Best Buy? It's like Wal-Mart or Target -- they cater to the average consumer, not just the gamer.

I don't buy games from any store but Gamestop anymore. The selection at Walmart and Best Buy just doesn't cut it.

Ah cool, I have a gold shield by my username. Better stay in line people or I'll....I'll....hit you with my little gold shield.

Figures.
I dislike Best Buy for many reasons especially when I buy PC games. All they had was WoW, Left4Dead, and The Sims 3 though the rest is just horrible games. I found PURE cheap even though its pretty good.

My 3rd party retailer (that I visit don`t own it), has an awesome selection of new and used games for all systems.

@Corbie
Gamestop & EB Games are alright I guess. When I find a good used GC game or PSP game it always has that retarded cover that says in text the game`s title. Along with that they put a HUGE friggen` sticker on the case (in multiple places like around spine of the case), and it not usually just comes right off either.

...I`m a picky shopper lol

No they're not, they're horrible.

I refuse to support a terrible business because of convenience. ** looks at Corbie **

I like my GameStop it is the absolute best one I have been to. (and I have seen many) Plus in my town it is either buy games there or at Walmart.

I rule when it comes to games. So deal with it.

In my opinion, Target has the best selection of the big box retailers. They usually have the big first party titles. Let's just say I understood why Best Buy was doing a buy 2 get one free sale, there were only like 3 games on the shelf worth buying.

I'm not sure where I'm going to buy some older DS games I want. I'm not sure if Target will have everything, so I may need to venture out online or go to gamestop.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

@Alexsays- If you were to read my post you`d see that I very much dislike Gamestop/EB due to many issues I`ve experienced over the years.

I only said their alright because their a good business at times. Though it doesn`t happen that frequently.

Best Buy has a buy 2 get one free deal now. Could be (probably not) why all the good games are gone.

I prefer to go to a locally owned game shop I have by me.

Gamestop is my last resort choice.

I swear I have wanted to drop kick like every 2 out of 3 Gamestop employees. I think dealing w/ moms buying games for their kids all day makes them arrogant.

I like Gamestop. I don't get to buy stuff off the internet often, so when I want an old game, they usually have what I want.

I've known the manager at this Gamestop for almost a decade. She always makes sure I'm taken care of and as such, I'll shop there exclusively until such time as it changes. This girl single-handedly got me a Wii on launch night after I messed around and waited late in the game to preorder.

You misinterpreted my post.

It wasn't directed at you, I just needed something to quote and run with.

And no, they're never a good business. Never.

Little kids by those games because they make the box look really "cool" to little kids and then they want it so much because they like the pretty picture.

I actually heard a kid say that once. And parents don't help either because they know nothing about games.

"Look, Tommy, CARNIVAL GAMES. Doesn't that sound like fun?" So then when all these stupid kids buy these games, the developers think that the kids liked them since they sold so well, so they make more and more until there's so much crap that it fills up the whole shelf. Ubisoft has the biggest selection of this crap, too.

You mean like selling used games as new? Letting their employees borrow new games?

Having such shady business tactics employees themselves are ashamed of working there? The comments here are a good read.

They're never a good business.

Nobody cares about your personal experiences.

I'm talking about the actual business. I couldn't care less that you walked into Wal-Mart and one of the employees didn't say hi.

Ah yes, the uneducated buyer usually gets burned by shovelware, I always suggest to ppl to check reveiws, ask a friend who has played it etc, or even try it out if possible. I NEVER let my kids get shovelware. One of them wanted cooking mama cook off for about a month, and I refused to buy it. Once they got some tamagotchi game for the wii, and after five mins, they turned it off and said it sucked. Glad I didn't buy it.

OK, those are good reasons, I didn't know about that. I do remember one time I bought a "new" game and the employee took a disc out of a drawer and put it in the case and handed it to me, and then said "oh, don't worry, it's still new." I thought that was odd.....

(and apparently i suck at quoting)

Sure, but what exactly is wrong with these stores? Would you mind explaining this? You simply called a business horrible and didn't explain anything.

Actually I did.

I listed shady business tactics and gave a link for employees that verified how terrible a business it is.

Not my fault if you don't read my posts.

Yeah they've been getting away with that for years.

I've had friends say they've gotten new games from them with scratches on them.

It's ridiculous and luckily they're currently under fire for it.
