Topic: Bad & Sad News DSi Owners

Yesterday i saw our Nintendo Rep in my store (i work at Target) And i asked him will there be a GBA Downloadable Service he said that Sadly there will not be... being more than mad i gracefully said thanks & walked away.... NOOOOOO!!!!!! I WANT THE GB SERVICE Nintendo How Dare You !

I don't care as much for the GBA games as I do the GB and GBC games. Although I would like to have the GBA games if at all possible. I'm still betting it comes.

I'm just not sure how well the GBA can be emulated on the DSi system. It's one thing to have the hardware on the system like the DS and DS Lite systems do, but that's a fairly powerful system to emulate. While I'm sure it can be done, will Nintendo put that kind of time into it? That's the question. I hope they do, but my main concern is the GB and GBC games, because I can't play them on my DS Lite. And I can't always carry the SNES and Super Game Boy 2 cart around.

Yea Thats True well this today marks two special things i got my Game & Watch Collection on DS from Club Nintendo & this is my 2nd Month as a member of NL I'm Growing up So Fast Plus i just beat Brawl on Level 9 in the Samus Mode in Sub Emissary

Wow that sucks. Although i probably wouldn't buy of the GB games except for Super Mario Land 1 & 2. As for the GBA i would buy Mario Kart:Super Circuit.

BTW You also should've asked him when Super Smash Bros. was coming to the North American Virtual Console. Just in case.

Yes, GB and GBC are really the ones that matter for the DSi VC. For GBA titles, you can still break out a DS Lite or one of the nicer GBA iterations (Micro or Brighter! SP).

Nintendo's M.O. has always been to deny, deny, deny, right up until they announce it. Once they announce it, they pretend like things changed or they listened to the customers. I'm sure there's a grain of truth in those statements, but I wouldn't put too much stock in what the rep said.

I wouldn't trust what the rep said as absolute fact under ANY circumstances. Do you honestly think that Nintendo keeps their in-store reps up to date on this stuff? I don't.

Also, it was my understanding that the DSi actually DOES still have GBA hardware hidden inside, just without a GBA cartridge slot. Granted, I don't know too much about it, but I believe I read that before.

I still believe that Nintendo would break stupid records by not having a DSi VC. It's just a matter of time until something gets announced.

not to mention the fact that if the NOA president himself is denying it at the moment, with all the online furor over a DSi VC that rep could get in some seriously hot water for continuing to fuel the rumors.

You don't even have to think about Nintendo's history of denying till it happens, just consider one important thing: You, nor I, nor anyone else, honestly believe NIntendo won't do it, considering that it's basically free money, and the Wii's VC has been such an massive hit. There will be a DSi VC, even if not right away. Guaranteed.

I would possibly imagine that Nintendo would try and squeeze some easy DSiware titles out of exsisting GBA games before they would bring any GBA VC games to the system. I would like to see them bringing Game & Watch games an GB / GBC games to the DSi first anyway so this isnt terrible news at the moment.

Isn't GBA part of Nintendo's '3 pillar strategy' or something? Might this explain why they wouldn't want to convert GBA games for VC download?

Well I didn't think of the fact that both the DSi and GBA use the ARM7 processor, so I guess GBA hardware is intact. My goof on that one. Then I can't see why GBA games won't be a part of a DSi Virtual Console if one is in the works.
