Nice, sounds like it's going to be really sweet! It obviously hasn't been updated for a while though, since we do now have details about how the 3D display will work without glasses.

In short, it's pretty much been confirmed that the 3DS will use parallax barrier technology, where the screen shoots out the light for the image in two different directions to each eye individually. This creates the 3D effect. The reason it doesn't work on regular TVs is because the screen has to be within a certain, fairly close, distance from the player's eyes to work. This technology is not new or groundbreaking. It's been used on mobile phones in Japan for a while now, apparently.
