Is there a topic in dsiware forums for this yet? I don't see one and I'm going a week back... (If I am wrong forgive me)

I downloaded Animal Color Cross and like it so far, just seems slightly basic in a few areas, which I'm sure helps to make it a $5 title but just seems like you want all the extras, like background music, for example, which this game lacks. (Leaves you wanting a bit more, sometimes.) However, the varied gameplay taken from the pages of (old school) Picross coupled with some glittery graphics make this a great download for the puzzle fan. I give it a 7/10 so far...

What do the rest of u's think?

I don't have it yet, as I'm still digging through Free mode and the Classic Puzzles on Picross DS, but I'll probably get it when I've finished all or most of Picross, as more Picross is more Picross ...

Exactly.

I just love this game!! I like it better than Picross DS. It just looks nicer than Picross DS. If you like Picross, you will definitely like this game!

actually I hated this game. I own picross DS and picross 3D, loved both. The reason I don't like this game is because of the color. The color of the puzzle are too similar (dark grey, black, dark brown). After I solve the puzzle, the image does not really mean anything to me (I only solved 3 puzzles so far), it only unlocks a real picture of an animal. I was quite disappointed. also the cross is too big (lines too thick) and makes me confuse.

can't they make the cross a little bit easier to distinguish from the block?

this is MUCH nicer and easier to see

After playing more, I still love the game however, a couple of things that bother me. I really don't like the fact that it doesn't save your progress if you exit the grid before completing it (or did I miss something and there is a way to save your progress?). I haven't had issues with the various colors, because you solve for each color separately on it's own separate grid. And, some of the bigger grids are very difficult to see (yes you can easily zoom in and out, but you kind of need to see the entire grid to figure out color blocks). Gee, it would have been nice if you could create grids from your own pics (taken with the DSi Camera). I haven't turned on the sound yet for any of my games (I typically play at night in bed and don't want to mess with headphones and don't use sound so that it won't bother my hubby), so the lack of music isn't a big deal to me. It's interesting how everyone sees things differently, I also own Picross and I didn't care for it at all...it's the colors that really (IMHO) make the difference for me!

It does save your progress though. There's a Resume option.
Also guys, you can change the background colour by pressing A during gameplay.

@KnucklesSonic8 Do you mean it will save an incomplete grid . . . or just that it will save where you're at (i.e. you've completed 3 grids and when you log back on it shows 3 completed grids and you can then play the 4th)?? Because, I do not see a way to save a grid that is only partially complete. If you know of a way to do this, please tell me how...I have looked..
Thank You.

Well I quit a puzzle at one point, and then under the SELECT GRID option, there was a menu called RESUME. I went in but because I didn't check it during the same session, I couldn't remember if it was the same one I was working on.

@KnucklesSonic8 Under SELECT GRID, I don't seem to have an option called RESUME. I have a magnifying glass which when you click shows you the picture with the little incompleted blocks on it and then I have a list of options "North America", "Europe" "Africa" "Asia" "Oceans" and then a BACK and OK button at the bottom...that's it. And so, when I turn a grid off (before completed) I lose all my progress on that particular grid...I have found that some of these grids take a little time to solve and it's annoying (at least to me) that you have to complete an entire grid less you lose your work.
Thank You Again.

The lack of music baffled me, seeing as the retail Color Cross game had music. Fortunately, I usually play at home anyway, so I just turned on my PSP for Internet Radio. No Life Radio FTW!

Anyway, the gameplay itself is pretty much the same as the retail predecessor, but with new puzzles. When you download the game, it warns that some content may have been in a previous release, but I have yet to see any repeats (am thus far halfway through Europe and done with America).

@Princess Peach: The first few puzzles are very indistinct, but they get better quickly. Obviously, this game isn't in the exact style of Picross DS, but it's still pretty good, IMO. And let's face it: We Americans don't have very many options in this genre. Can't even get pencil and paper magazines without importing from Britian.

@Merilee: The resume option is on the MAIN menu, not the grid menu. It appears in the empty space between "select grid" and "profile." I learned this by checking the "Help" menu.

Sorry, I meant underneath the SELECT GRID option, not inside. Miscommunication there. Thanks for clarifying SG1
