Though they have been few and far between, there are times when user(s) with radically unpopular opinions and/or outright trolls show up on the forums. If you see them posting and think that they are out of line (and I don't mean something like 'Mario is a terrible character', I'm talking personal insults or foul language or whatev'), please, use that 'report' button. It only takes a second for a mod to look over a post someone's reported, and if it's a problem, we'll take care of it... and if the user themselves turns out to be a problem, they'll be taken care of as well. If they're still around after a major outburst, chances are that (a) they've been warned and are being monitored for future problems, or (b) we're waiting for them to really hang themselves with multiple recorded outbursts before nominating them to the admins for bannination.
That said, recently we've had a rash of users wanting to jump on said unpopular/trollish types in threads even when they've done nothing wrong. Voicing one's opinion is what we all do here. Please, don't freak out when a known problem user makes a normal opinionated comment, and whatever you do, stop poking them. Refute them if you must, but posting comments like like 'why are you even here?' and continuing to comment about them in-thread (as opposed to keeping things in there on-topic) does not help the situation at all and may serve to goad them into further outbursts, which will reflect on you just as much as them.
Bottom line: if you don't like someone here, ignore them. Do not harass them. If they cross the line, report them, and they will be dealt with, but other than that, just leave them alone and let them fizzle out on their own. As much as we joke about editing your posts and stuff, cleaning up a thread is actually rather tedious work. :3
