I'm assuming once Breath of the Wild hype dies down & once it becomes an "old game" we'll see these $50+ Zelda amiibos drop down a bit. Back to the $15-20 range let's say?

Or will they..?

What will they be selling for in let's say 2 years.. 5 years.. 10+

I'm one of the "I didn't care about amiibos until Breath of the Wild came out" people. They're kinda fascinating aren't they all of them, I like these things.

Mostly just wondering if I put together a set now, in April 2017, either the 15 Zelda ones, or the 120+ complete set, will they depreciate drastically in the future/near future? Let's think about these things as an investment.

I don't see Nintendo re-releasing them.. the old Zelda ones at least.

Seems like a new Smash game would really bump up the demand/prices, at least for a couple months I'd imagine. But then they'd all dip down to a "normal" price.

The more games they release the more useful they'll be. I dunno, I know I'm rambling....

Values will probably not go up from here, but they might not drop down either. Most Nintendo items retain their value. It does seem like there is some new stock of the older Amiibos reaching store, but it seems to only be Link SSB and 8 Bit Link and maybe a few others. I think Sheik will be one of the rarest to find soon (if not already the rarest due to the BOTW rush). Although the Guardian could become scarce soon depending on what the final production numbers are.

Probably many will retain value, as @JohnBlackstar said. Perhaps dip $10 or so. They will certainly go up in 5 - 10 years when BotW is retro and people want those fancy pants amiibo items in their games then. Same for other popular games I am sure. I have quite a large collection of amiibo (80 or so, not counting cards, which that would put me over 200) but honestly many of them won't retain value. It will just be the ones attached to popular games like Smash, Splatoon, Zelda, etc.

Maybe in 20+ years they will be collectors items again. But then maybe they will be yard sale junk. Hard to tell!

I was legitimately upset about the Amiibos for this for awhile, even at $15 that's steep for some costumes, but once I realized even fully upgraded they don't outclass any armor in defense or give any sort of set bonus, I stopped caring.
