People stop giving into scalpers. If a product sells out then Nintendo is basically being told they should make more. Producing these figures takes time, so just wait for figures to be restocked, no Amiibo figure has been discontinued by Nintendo yet.
I read a bit of an Australian Senate report on scalping a while ago. Apparently around 5-10% of concert tickets end up in the hands of scalpers. So it's not that much of the market and I don't think just "producing more" really solves the problem. Plus with Amiibo it sold a lot better than anyone was expecting. I read a few days ago that they'd moved as many Amiibo as they had copies of Smash Bros. That's insane. I don't think anyone could have predicted that.
True, which is why people need to wait. Amiibos are selling better than crack, Nintendo is going to make more figures in order to capitalize off this trend. I am hoping to get a Marth near Project STEAM's release but I am not going to buy one from a scalper if I can't find it in store.

@rjejr: Just sold my 3-Pack since there will be known Splatoonage in my house. I wont tell you for how much though.
known = no? Hope you sold it for as much as you could get. So does that mean you bought 1 of the 2 other consoles? Got your Wii U friend request, though if you traded in your Wii U to Gamestop for your new purchase I suppose that won't do us much good now.

I'm starting very soon. Got a few Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, and an Inkling Boy to start out, and I've asked a nearby store to stock up some rare figures (though they said they'll have to see if they can get any). I won't be so crazy and go all-out with the price limit, though, just to keep the ripoff moderately merciful. But since I'm in Germany, it's a bit difficult for me to get a payment method up and running...

How much are you selling the Marth for?

@DefHalan I'm aiming for a lower price than what Marth usually goes out for on ebay (most are somewhere around 35-40$ for unopened US/PAL versions), so rest assured that it won't be quite as painful. For now, try to think at around 20-25$, since I'd hate to actually double the price. Hopefully, that's a step towards taking the wind out of the sails for some more ruthless scalpers.

Personally I don't think Amiibo scalping is that widespread here in Australia as it is elsewhere (aside from the Gold/Silver Marios). There has been a Wii Fit Trainer and a villager sitting in my local EB Games for weeks now, easy money for the inclined. (to say nothing of the plethora of Ikes and Marths I've been seeing).
Only time I sold on eBay was when I ended up stuck with 12 Silver Marios. I'm in a LINE chat with some of the best Amiibo hunters I've seen (I'm not too shabby myself), and we always buy extras if possible to help those in the group who may have been sleeping when the alert went up, or was not by their phone, etc. Long story short I got a little over zealous and then Silver became kinda common so everyone got one already. Wasn't gonna return them to the stores and pay return shipping. So I sold to the UK where there aren't any Silver Marios. I asked £25 when most people were charging £50 each. And I had to pay overseas shipping. I'll never do it again- it's not like I bought them with the intention of selling them for profit. But by the chance of circumstance I ended up in that situation and I figured why not. At least I hooked some people up for half the price of what everyone else was selling them for.
Now I have a bunch of extra rare Amiibo accumulating that have damaged boxes. I'm gonna try to sell those at cost to members here on the site, but if I don't find buyers for all of them I may list them on eBay as well. For cost though.

@JaxonH: lol Every time I go into Toys R Us and ask what they have in the back, it is always Silver Mario. I don't care for the variants so I don't buy them but I find it funny how they have had Silver Mario in stock for so long.
