I doubt these 3 amiibo's have been disontinued at all as until a few minutes ago the Nintendo UK store got some Villager amiibo's back in stock. It's just that there in huge demand at the moment, and it will take time for Nintendo to make and bring out more stock to the market.

Whatever you do though, don't buy amiibo's from Ebay reseller's at marked up prices. These amiibo's are bound to come back in stock, it'll just take time that's all.

Hey all I've gonna a little crazy with the whole amiibo thing and realised I have far to many already.

I am now just going the buy the ones I will actually use feather than just buying them because they are in the set.

With this in mind I am going to sell my wii fit trainer and marth.

Would anyone from UK be interested in them?

I also have a Japanese little mac currently being shipped to me, may consider letting this go too.

I pre-ordered Shulk from Gamestop a couple of weeks ago just to sell him on ebay. I thought I wouldn't get into this, but it's just too hard to pass up. I don't care about the character, so it's easy for me to part with him. I don't really want many more amiibos anyway. I already have Samus, Kirby, Yoshi, and Captain Falcon. I've got Rosalina and Luma on preorder as well. All I need is Zero Suit Samus, and Ness, and I'll be done with getting the Smash amiibos. And yes, I DO open every figure I get, and I only buy one of each. Selling Shulk is just a one time special occasion.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. I can understand if you've but some for yourself, and find that you don't want them anymore, but it is totally different to buy them with the purpose of making a profit off of them.

I couldn't agree more, I spent 3 hours today going to every possible store in the city that sells Amiibos, and everything wave 2 was sold out yesterday (the day they arrived)

I even had a gamestop employee try to sell me a scalped captain falcon for nearly 4x the normal price!

i had an extra falcon which i parted with for $20 on Craigslist to a collector. i justified this by saying it was the shipping cost for my order of imported amiibos. hoping i get the email confirmation soon.

Amiibo are currently being effected strongly by an artificial price inflation by scalpers, to me the whole second-hand selling of them is both an incredibly unstable market and an arse move so no.

Ideal solution to that is drop the RRP by 1$ / £1 and restock. Nintendo can do everything needed to make the scalpers lose money.

Scalpers are like people who cut queues. They say that they don't understand why everyone doesn't do it because of the clear advantages of being far ahead in the queue. They argue that they're just smart enough to have thought up the idea of pushing infront of you and you're an idiot for not doing the same. Maybe they'll even try to say that they're not doing any harm because the queue still exists and that technically nobody actually stopped them from doing it.

But they're still jerks doing a jerk thing. And telling dude #51 in a queue for 50 things that they'll charge a ridiculous fee just for the spot doesn't let them escape that label. If anything it makes them even more of a jerk. And like jerks they can't seem to comprehend the idea that everyone else isn't doing the same just maybe because they just want to be nice. I can imagine that their head would explode if they saw someone give up their spot in the queue for someone they thought was more deserving.

The only thing that makes me feel better about the whole situation is how aggressively some of them defend their shenanigans. Because just maybe that shows that they understand that they're being jerks. And maybe if they understand then maybe they'll stop doing it.

I understand some of you being upset that people are selling these figures for a lot more than they are worth. I feel your pain. (Wipes a lonely tear from face)

But here is my stance.

I bought 4 Marth amiibo, 6 Villager amiibo, and 8 Wii Fit Trainer amiibo. I was at Wal-mart and they were all there. (I live in a small town.)

I sold them all, for quite a bit of money. At one point I had the highest sold set of the three on eBay at $250.

My son had a great holiday. My wife had a great holiday. I had a great holiday. My family had a great holiday. Being able to go in and buy those up and resell them made a huge difference this year for us. So be mad, rage about it. Get angry. Write about it on the internet. Wear yourself out and take a nap kids.

Edit: The only thing I felt bad about was not keeping a Villager for myself or a Marth. But I found a Japanese Villager on eBay for $15 and they announced they are going to re-release Marth for S.T.E.A.M.

I just sold one locally.

It was more of a "hey you're going to USA could you get me one?" Kind of deal though.

Calling people who disagree with you "kids" and implying that somehow being a jerk is "the adult way"? Only makes you even more of a jerk IMO. The fact that you had it easier for being a jerk just means that some other dad had a crap time because they had to pay extra to get an Amiibo for their kid. Simple as that. So when I see crap like the Amiibo scenario I'm sorry, I can't see any reason why you would want to defend your point of view. You're just being a jerk.

A similar thing happened the other day with the limited edition Majora's Mask New 3DS XL. I wasn't really into it because I'm not sold on the New 3DS quite yet however for some people that'd be a big deal. It'd make their year picking it up. So I saw it go up for pre-order on a few sites and within maybe half an hour they were sold out. 100% gone. The sale price here was $250AU and immediately people were selling their pre-orders on eBay for $400-600AU.

I don't think scalpers even need to defend themselves, but at the same time they have to deal with many fans now not approving of their capitalistic ways.

I won't defend myself, but I totally preordered a Shulk amiibo just so I could sell it on ebay. Now granted, I open and USE every single amiibo I buy, however, this was just too good to pass up. I only bought ONE if it makes anyone feel any better, but whatever. I hate scalpers just as much as the next guy/gal, but seriously... I needed some more game money man. Also, I thought this was a no judgement thread, what's with all da hate? Personally, I wouldn't pay more than recommended retail price (12.99) for ANY amiibo figure, even if it's a one I REALLY care about. I understand that Ness will be a hugely popular figure, so I'll try to get my preorder in, (because I actually want him) and if I can't, no biggie. There's no way in heck I'll pay any more for him though. I think people are kind of crazy for paying absurd amounts of money for these little things. But I can also understand why too. I occasionally buy super high quality import figures from time to time (just spent 50 bucks on a figma Samus figure last summer) , so I definitely understand why, but I MYSELF don't think amiibo are worth more than they are normally priced.

You know I really hate it when people use this line when referring to scalpers. It implies that somehow if you think the whole thing is BS you're somehow "against capitalism". Which is a load of bull really. Scalpers are effectively standing between you and the counter and demanding that you pay them a fee in order to purchase the item. Supply and demand right? Well they're not a consumer or a producer and they're not really even distributors. They're just jerks conning consumers out of money. Scalping would be illegal if there was a way to police it because similar practises are labelled as scams and treated as such.

And the worst bit is that it's not even as "smart" as they like to think it is. Dude before who said they grabbed a whole bunch because they saw them and "knew" they'd make a bunch on eBay. What if a couple of days later another batch came out onto the shelves? What if all of a sudden they had to sell them at a loss after postage because they miscalculated? You are either basically conning someone out of their money OR you're losing money because you're an idiot. Either way it's not something to brag about. Either way you're wasting someone's time and money.

NinjaWaddleDee wrote:

The fact that someone thought they needed a "no judgement" disclaimer on the thread just shows that people doing this do know that what they're doing is crap. Frankly I'm not going to listen to that at all. If someone knows what they're doing is a jerk move then they should stop. They shouldn't try to insulate themselves from people reminding them that they're jerks.

Plus you said you have got caught by others doing similar stuff with other items. So what is actually going on here? We're effectively just wasting money on postage and time trying to collect these damn things. Why not just save all of that wasted energy, make the whole system more efficient, make things better for everyone and simply don't participate in that market from any side. Then everyone wins.

People stop giving into scalpers. If a product sells out then Nintendo is basically being told they should make more. Producing these figures takes time, so just wait for figures to be restocked, no Amiibo figure has been discontinued by Nintendo yet.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I read a bit of an Australian Senate report on scalping a while ago. Apparently around 5-10% of concert tickets end up in the hands of scalpers. So it's not that much of the market and I don't think just "producing more" really solves the problem. Plus with Amiibo it sold a lot better than anyone was expecting. I read a few days ago that they'd moved as many Amiibo as they had copies of Smash Bros. That's insane. I don't think anyone could have predicted that.
