Topic: How many of you will start selling amiibo on eBay? (no judgement thread)

Even with inconsistent responses from Nintendo its apparent that some amiibo are not long for store shelves. With demand still high is anyone hunting the stores to sell on eBay? Or even just taking a extra look at pegs seeing if there is a forgotten Marth or Trainer when you do your regular shopping/browsing?

As someone who has a solid eBay selling history (having sold exclusive comics, toys, even original Wii's) I am not in full hunt mode yet but am keeping my eye out. Mostly because most of wave 1 HTF are gone already (although I picked up a Wii Fit Trainer yesterday). Once Wave 2 hits I think I will be more proactive, both to make sure I get what I want personally and also to keep a few on the side.

Not sure. I sold some Skylanders at markup, and it was worth it. But most of those were leftover doubles (granted, we usually don't get any figures first, so it's hard for me to actually sell those at markup). I might occasionally sell amiibo that will be obviously rare if I manage to find them. I won't do it frequently because amiibo seem hard to find here already and I don't wanna get in the way too much.

I'm not anti money. If I run across something that I can make worthy profit off of, I will buy it and resell. But my time has value as well so it needs to be worth it to me. I'm not going to drive all over town looking for what I hope are rare amiibos in hopes of making $5. If i knew I could get $20 profit for buying an amiibo at Target that I happen to run into then of course I will buy it but I think the over valuation of them is short lived. Nintendo will manufacture more at least short term because it is worth it to their bottom line. I do think 35 to 40 years from now there will be a decent market for all things early Nintendo.

Off Topic JonSpangler - Since you state your selling history on ebay, I happen to buy a random box of junk for $5 at an auction to get a bunch of hot wheels for my sons and it has 30+ comic books in it, some going back into the 1970 / 60's? I know nothing about comic books. Any good websites to look up a general value or is my best bet to go to a local comic book store and see if they want any of them

I'm not gonna lie, I'm considering it. I think it'd be a better idea to buy the ones you think will be discontinued and save them for a while though.. hard to tell anymore. I just wish I could have got my hands on one of those 20th Anniversary PS4. That would have been an instant $1-2k investment at the least.

I'm not gonna buy amiibos for selling it later. Its hard enough to find those I want to myself if they are rare.

I am more a modern comic person, I'll go to a convention and get there con exclusive and some signatures and hit eBay. I am much more of a action figure person and have a 500+ piece collection.

To answer your question I would try comicspriceguide.com Or I would take some random issues and just check eBay and see what they are selling for. I try to focus on auctions and not buy it now because it just indicates what people are selling it for not what people are buying it for.

You can try your local comic shop but I would call ahead first. Many shops only have a day a week they look at collections and buy.

What kind of comics did you find? Anything that strikes out as something your especially curious in?

The thing is, it doesn't take much effort to find some of the rarer ones at retail. Some eBayer is trying to sell a Marth for £38 plus p&p claiming they're sold out. I found three well known stockists with Marth available in a matter of minutes.

Personally I don't mind if people buy the extra one with the intention of selling it on in the future for a decent mark up. But it's completely wrong when you get these greedy filthy lying jackals trying to milk people. I just hope no one is stupid enough to fall for it.

At first I would of said no since I like to keep and play what I buy and I'm too lazy to list items up now a days. But after seeing some of those prices they are getting sold for, I feel tempted. I find it crazy people are willing to pay $80 and up for a Marth amiibo and I have it sealed in my closet and paid $10 (3 for 30 sale) for it. Make me look stupid for not even listing it, but than again that's not the reason I brought it in the 1st place.

Btw I used to sell used games on ebay since the trade in value at most store are ridiculous, like buy a new game for $50 and trade in 2 days later for $15. Been over 2 years since then.

I wouldn't. I don't have a problem with others doing it either, as long as they don't BUY OFF AN ENTIRE SHELF and then jack up the price to hell.

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

Best thing to do for Nintendo would be something like say this is going to be the last batch of X - Then the scalpers buy all of them (So profit for Nintendo) then say due to unexpected demand we changed our mind we are going to keep all of them in stock.

That would be incredible if they did. I kind of enjoy when the scalpers buy a ton of items and then can't unload them for what they paid for them. It was one of the joys of the Wii U / XB1 struggles......so many ebay deals on brand new consoles a week after release

Sorry, this is just a scumbag move. You're just making it harder for people who do want to get it to find them and you're pushing up the price. Not cool.

Stop the presses. Nintendo said some figures may come back!

After looking through amiibo listings on ebay, some people are going to make a killing off some of these $13 NFC figures. That just doesn't seem right to me. There's one person selling WFT, Marth, and Villager with the words "recently discontinued" right there in the listing. I've also seen about five listings for a legless Peach amiibo. There's more than one? Somebody must be reusing pictures and/or outright lying. I also noticed someone selling a lvl. 50 Pikachu amiibo as if getting them to that level was too difficult to go through yourself. There's very few of any characters being sold other than the 3 "discontinued" ones. Something ain't right 'bout all that.

Too late. I used to use Steam quite a bit, and I know exactly what you mean.
