I'm glad certain amiibos are rare and hard to come by. If every one was in mass production and could be purchased anywhere at any sore, it wouldn't be nearly as appealing.
Amiibo are in a way, physical DLC. One of the benefits is that single purchase can give you multiple DLC packs. The Shovel Knight Amiibo locking content that was supposed to be free is wrong, but the exclusive content is fine. How rare Amiibo are are a different issue. This is one of the problems of the Smash Amiibo and Amiibo in general. Since they work in so many different games it will be difficult to know which ones need to be stocked. Hopefully they get to a point where restock happen with each game release that use them, but I doubt there will ever be a day where WFT is on every store shelf.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

What is so shocking to you about that? I guarantee if every amiibo was available at GameStop or Toys R Us, they wouldn't nearly be as big a hit as they are.
and the majority of people buying them aren't buying them for any gaming DLC.
@Rexcalibr: Until developers start locking massive amounts of content behind Amiibo paywalls and 90% of the owners of certain games will miss out on great content or gasp! If companies start to release incomplete games that require Amiibo to complete. These are the things that make this sort of practice extremely dangerous to consumers.
I don't see what the big deal is. How is the Yoshi's Woolly World thing any different to the Splatoon thing? And with Shovel Knight for sure, that's probably the most locked behind an Amiibo thus far. But really. What are you expecting out of a game the price of Shovel Knight? It's $15US, you get one of the best indie platformers in a long while. That should be enough. But you also get free DLC and not just the Plague Knight but other ones down the road. Give them a break. I'm of the view that the game is so good that if it wasn't for the Amiibo I'd be buying it more than the two times I already have just to say thanks for such a great game.

Except that that's precisely what has happened in Australia and they're still just as popular. There's a lot of stock now and you still see people picking them up. It certainly hasn't reduced my interest in them. The only real difference is that now they can be an impulse buy rather than something you have to queue for.
it's great that we get DLC with something physical. i would much rather buy an amiibo which has DLC in it over buying the DLC and amiibo separately.
they will never "release an incomplete game u need an amiibo 2 finish" lol, that and other crazy talk in this thread is clearly coming from the amiibo shortages in america and the paranoia that comes with it.... it'll always be extra content. again, it's great how you get to buy a toy and happen to get extra content for your game. i'm not even sure how you can twist this into something negative. you ungrateful swine!
Certain Amiibo have horrible stocking issues that Nintendo of America hasn't sorted out. There are Amiibo I couldn't even get on day one - day one! Regular consumers don't even know certain Amiibo ever existed, and that's crazy to me. Nintendo's stock issues are doubly locking that content for some of us
