Topic: Amiibo Function Ideas

It has already been stated that any one amiibo will internally contain save data for one game at a time. On top of that, there will be functions in other games where save data is not needed - Current examples of this are how amiibo will be compatible with Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors, where they will unlock costumes or items. In addition to all this, they could add (if not already currently available) different features, basic or not, that would really make these figures even that much mire worth having. The purpose of this thread is to see what are some [hopefully realistic] ideas that members of the community can come up with. Who knows? Maybe someone important an influential might see them and implement them at some point. Or maybe you could just have a lucky guess on something that's already coming.

Here are some of my ideas:

  • If you scan an amiibo at the Wii U menu, that character appears and mingles with the Miis
  • If you scan an amiibo at the Wii U menu, you can unlock a Wii U menu theme for that character
  • If you scan an amiibo at either the Wii U menu or in the Mii Maker, you can unlock and use themed items from that character on your Mii. This could include something such as a Mario mustache or a themed shirt, which then if said Mii would be used in a game such as Wii Sports Club, the Mii's shirt/outfit could revert to the base color of whatever shirt the Mii has (ex. Mario = red, Pikachu = yellow, Kirby = pink, etc.), unless Nintendo would include support for that showing on a Mii in such a game. However, a Mii with a shirt like that would always show up on the Wii U menu with it.
  • I think it would be cool if games with read/write capability for amiibo (such as Super Smash Bros.) had in-game stats like how many times amiibo have been scanned/used
  • For Super Smash Bros.: I wish the game recorded your amiibo's stats, as well as possibly all they've collected for you, and maybe even how many friends' amiibo have been scanned. Could also have stats for friends' amiibo. For your own amiibo, possibly records for each individual one, and then a general stat page for friends' amiibo (or a general stat page for both).

These are some things I feel Nintendo could easily add in a future system update, if it doesn't already exist. What do you think? What are some ideas you have for amiibo?

I love these ideas!!

I actually like these ideas, none of the stuff you mentioned is crucial to gameplay and they'd be nice bonuses to have. They should also make the themes work for 3ds too since its getting amiibo support soon

Cosmetic items or weapon reskins in Splatoon. Also free VC games when you scan it while browsing the eShop, but only if you're the 'owner.' [s]Masks in Majora's Mask 3D.[/s]

How about if you scan an amiibo in Majora's Mask 3D, you get a mask with that character's face on!

Or when you scan an amiibo in Miiverse, you can get a new profile icon!

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

that would be an awful idea. not only do the masks in majora's mask serve a function they are symbolic to boot. thats a quick way to ruin and cheapen a great game.

I'd love it if I could scan an Amiibo and get a costume for my Mii in the Miivesre like in Mairo Kart, I think that would be awesome, useless but awesome.

More people are on this forum section now, so I figured I'd bump this so more can see and input.

But the other had more recent posts before you bumped this, not that I really care. It just seemed weird that you would bump this.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I like the Wii U menu ideas.

Here's what I hope to see in Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei:
Once per day, you can scan an amiibo into your party. They become a green unit (not in your control) and they will attack enemies until they die. They can then only be summoned again once 24 hours have passed. The more you use them the more "intelligent" they become, making more strategic moves and such. They level up like normal FE characters.
All Fire Emblem characters from the Smash series would of course be compatible (so we'd get Marth, Ike, Robin and Lucina) and there's also the opportunity for Nintendo to manufacture more limited edition amiibo, perhaps including SMT characters.

I honestly want a game like The Sims for Amiibos where you put them into the game and they all just interact with each other and build a community. I'd love to see how that would go with combinations of certain amiibos

Yeah,I can see that now. It'll be called "Super Simulation Bros."Anyway, that'd be a pretty cool idea and Nintendo could also release packs of NFC cards that add new houses, towns, etc. to the game.

They NEED to make Mario Maker with amiibo support. Each amiibo would give you the chance to use specific enemies or backgrounds or stuff. It would be a great way to make Mario Maker into something like NES Remix. It would actually also bean idea which supports the concept of amiibo: you don't NEED them to play the game but they'd add a lot. This would be a perfect chance to create a real good reason to buy amiibos besides Smash. I think a lot of Nintendo fans would love to jump on Kremlings as Super Mario or something.

I've had a couple of ideas, I even came to this forum just to share and found this post! This is STRICTLY for PAST games however.

I think Super Mario 3d World would quadruple in awesomeness if each Amiibo character were playable through Amiibo use. Image using Link, Fox or Samus... Bowser or Donkey Kong! It'd make the game really different and fun to play AGAIN with EACH new character.
Donkey Kong Country: Each Amiibo affects SOME part of the game world but none is quite the same. Fox turns the barrel rocket into an Arwing DK flys on, Peach gives Dixie an outfit, Marth makes Cranky's cane a sword. Kirby lets DK inhale foes and spit them back out. Etc. Etc. It'd be fun to have a PLETHORA of different applications.
Pikmin. Mission mode stages built around each character. Mini hyrule or Brinstar, popstar or Mushroom Kingdom. That'd be legit. I think I'd even like to see the Pikmin dress up... lol.
Wonderful 101 could finally see what it always wanted - Nintendo Heroes United Up!

That would make it a completely different game...
