I feel like giving up on Amiibo to be honest. I really wanted to collect them all but with some Amiibo not even appearing in stores, it's just too damn annoying to collect at this point. It shouldn't be this difficult.

Who are you having trouble finding?
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Once you catch the amiibo bug/fever you will wish there is an amiibo rehab center nearby. I suggest pre-ordering at multiple retailers and just cancel or return the extras. This way it increases your chances acquiring rare and future releases. Just saying.
After Christmas and once the hype dies down you'll be able to buy Little Mac and other rares in store. Scalpers will be returning amiibos to the stores because they couldn't sell and Nintendo will supply new stock. Certain rares like Marth may always be hard to find but not impossible. Don't give up; just take a break.
Nintendo said some "discontinued" amiibos might show up as cards, but personally,I think they might just get to their senses and make more figures to compensate for the higher demand so their fans won't have $100 for one little figure.

I actually might collect the cards when that happens, depending on their price. The figures I don't care about as much. I will just get my favorites as figures

I was only going to get 4 or 5 of these things... now I own 7 and am currently being shipped Captain Falcon and Diddy, and I four of the wave 3 amiibos pre ordered. So far I haven't overpaid for any of them but man has it been tough to resist. I was debating paying $30 for a villager and lil mac amiibo, but I figure once things die down a bit they'll be easier to track down in the store. I mean there is no way Nintendo would be stupid enough to not release more of the rare figures right? It's easy money... then again this is the same company that took 15+ years to release earthbound digitally while cartridges were selling for $100+ so maybe I should worry.
I want a few Amiibo but I'm not going to hunt around for them. If I can't get them by simply walking into a shop at a comfortable hour and getting them off the shelf? I'm not going to bother. They're just figurines so I'm not particularly fussed. That said, if I see one I want in the shops? I'm not going to hesitate. I was in two minds about the Villager Amiibo when I had the option to get any of the ones from the first wave... now it's pretty tricky to find.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
Well I have a Little Mac and two Diddy Kong still in the package. I've already talked to my friends, they managed to get them, so I'm willing to sell them at store price, plus shipping so I'm not out anything. The little Mac has a little white Paint bloch on his head, though
Give it time. Holiday seasons (mainly Christmas) is the worse time to buy certain things due to overwelming demand. If it's anything like Skylanders when I used to collect them and most other hard to find toys and gadgets, stores will more than likely have them in stock after the holiday buzz.
Funny thing, my pre-order of Little Mac was canceled as well from Best Buy but I brought it at NWS 3 days before said 12/14 release (12/11) and 8 days before BB canceled my order (12/19).
