I think this thread might need to be made in the 3DS section when the peripheral for it comes out.
One for Wii U (here), and one for 3DS.

I might get Peach, or Palutena if they make her.
I think if there's a Rosalina & Luma amiibo, when you put it in Mario Kart 8 there will be a Luma by Rosalina's side, just like in Mario Kart Wii.

Anyone else think the name Amibo is stupid?

The video seemed to indicate a Lucina figure, and if that's there I'll buy it even if Amiibo doesn't come to the 3DS.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

i was never into collecting figurines of certain video game franchises, anime etc.
just not for me
at first i really hated the idea.. and i don't like NFC at all.. i don't need any of this gimmick

but i actually like those Nintendo figurines.. i plan on buying them all

Well it is optional and it does have some good use to it so yes it can work. I just wish that Nintendo doesn't make it so that its forced down your throat if you know what I mean.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

My only worry is that if I get too many, I'll have to start taking down my Krosmaster Arena figurines to make room.

Since this is on the 3DS too shouldn't this be in general discussion? Regardless, I feel the need to catchbuy-them-all!

I'm sold on the figures as they look beautiful so i'll be getting a few but i'm not sold on the in game functionality. From what we have seen they are wild Pokemon, we touch the figures on the pad to release them and they attack and grow.

I really need to see more uses gameplay wise but i'm glad Nintendo are not going the Skylanders/Disney route and making them physical DLC, that would be a deal breaker for me.

Time will tell i guess, i'm assuming a NFC focused game is coming late 2015 and the current interactions with MP10,MK8,Smash etc are just the stepping stones.

Nope. Amiibo still sounds better. More original. But hey, it's not like my opinion is worth anything

I don't know about you guys, but I am genuinely excited for Amiibo. It just feels like there is alot of potential in this idea. I know Skylander and Disney Infinity has been doing this, but Amiibo is something different because you'll be able to integrate them in different games! If Nintendo play their cards right, this could be a big thing. Training your figures and battle them with your friend's figure? I'm so down for that. If you have a Digimon Tamagochi when you were a kid, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I'm personally not interested in toys anymore. But I'm excited for Nintendo. If it takes off, Nintendo will have more resources with which to improve in areas I am interested. It also expands the Nintendo community which I have no qualms about.

I am really excited by these. I want all of them but think I'll start with Peach or Link.

You do know that gaming consoles are toys too....? I'm a mecha modeller/figure collector. So this is automatic win for me (Samus and Megaman figures? YUM)! The Amiibos may be the only Non-Mecha related figures I will have on my shelves

I'll have to play Smash Bros to see which character I like best, but Pac-Man seems safe - is Toad playable?
