Topic: Would you buy retail DS games on the 3DS e-shop?

Nope. The original 3DS has a terrible resolution for DS games that is beaten by the DSi hands down. Luckily I still own both, so I wouldnt be downloading any DS games - especially considering I can pick up many of them used for a very reasonable price. Somehow I doubt buying in the eShop would be as good value.

The 3DS XL isn't much better. (Particularly for stuff like Metal Slug 7 / Contra 4).

I am thinking of getting a DSi XL at some point for that very reason. (That said I would still get some of them that I have already anyway just because one system is enough to be carrying around).

Yes I would. There are some great DS games I missed out on and are either too hard to find now, or are way to expensive. I would love to get Metroid Prime Hunters

Yep, especially something niche and rare like The World Ends With You, Rune Factory 1/2/3, Solatorobo Red the Hunter, etc.

If it was a game that I had a hard time finding then yes.

If they're difficult to come across otherwise, sure.

Honestly, I am not a fan of digital stuff.
I am used to check the newest downloads but I am only buying that stuff in certain situations (bargain).

From my point of view, the downloads are quite too expensive (but compared to the European or Japanese eShop, the American one has quite moderable prices).
Why download stuff if I can buy a physical copy for allmost the same price?

I'd buy a reasonably priced digital copy of Okamiden right now if it were in the eShop. Ditto Metroid Prime Hunters.

With the release of New Super Mario Bros 2 and Demon Training fast approaching (they’re out next week in Japan) Nintendo has issued instructions on just how to buy the games digitally from the eShop.

Thank god I got Okamiden at pretty reasonable price ages ago. Loved it and Okami. I would totally buy DS games through eShop if the prices are right. They shouldn't only release the popular games at first though. Something more rare that would catch peoples attention. I want a lots of RPGs

I do prefer physical copies where possible, but if it was something a bit obscure that I was struggling to find in store then sure, providing it was reasonably priced.

Yeah, I definitely would as my local game stores tend to sell them for more than they're worth at the moment. It would also give Nintendo a chance to make some money off old DS games that don't sell any more.

If I don't have them and I want them, then sure. The price needs to be right, though. I don't see a point in buying Mario Kart DS for $35.
