We have like twenty Game Boy games already, but only one Game Boy Color game. Is the Ambassador Program keeping Nintendo from releasing GBC games?

I highly doubt something like the AP could cause the kind of internal problems that would stop nintendo from releasing GBC games.

I guess they simply want to see how many original GB games they can sell us.

Bloop.

Why yes. Such an astute observation.

Other things preventing the release of GBC games include: moon phases, the angus beef production of northern Iowa, population fluctuations in Denmark, the International Space Station, and a Mongolian bubblegum pop station.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

^Don't forget, the releases are also prevented by Nintendo's obvious desire to make sure people can have something to complain about on teh interwebs. They are so thoughtful that way.

I think they haven't released GBC games because if both GB & GBC games were available, many people wouldn't buy GB games over GBC games because they would feel like they're buying an inferior product when they could buy a "better" product for a little more money. So, Nintendo will most likely release everything they feel has value from the GB library to make as much money as possible from them, then move onto the GBC's library to make money from that. That's what I'd be thinking/doing if I was in charge of that stuff, anyway.

Exactly.

That makes about as much sense as not selling SNES or N64 games to push NES games.

I think the lack of gameboy color games is due to the lack of actual gameboy color games... I really cannot think of many big name Gameboy color titles at all. Zelda, Pokemon G/S/C, and Some of the Game and Watch games... Metal Gear Solid? ...um... Wario Land 3? Really that's all I can think of.

Keep in mind that the 3DS is pretty new, and the eShop was not available on launch day.

I don't always give myself signatures, but when I do, you just read it.

I have to admit that if more Game Boy Color (and furthermore, Game Boy Advance) games were available on eShop, I don't think I'd bother with the classic Game Boy titles. I don't know why that is - probably because I had GBC and GBA games so those platforms mean something to me, whereas I know little to nothing of any classic GB games.

Same on the Wii VC, I have nearly all the N64 games and a good number of SNES games because I owned those systems, but I haven't bothered to purchase many NES games (two, and even they're SMB:TLL and SMB3) because I don't know the system and I have no attachment to the games.

I know that probably doesn't make sense, but if Nintendo put out 100 Game Boy games and 10 Game Boy Color games, I probably wouldn't give a toss about most of the former because I'd be busy playing the latter. Which is horrible, I know. But I do have a lot of the GB games on 3DS VC and I really enjoy them. So I'm redeemed. Kinda.

Personally I thought the original Gameboy had far better games than GBC.
There's probably only a handfull of GBC games I'd even want. Plus you have to consider the original lasted almost 10 years.
GBC was quickly replaced by GBA after only 3. Classic GB clearly had a larger library of games.

Japan has two GBC games, for the record. You're not getting the second one, though - it's Card Hero, a text-heavy RPG never released outside Japan.

Since we've gotten Super Mario Land 2 and Wario Land has been rated already, I think we're getting close to Wario Land 2 being released. So, I bet this'll happen: Wario Land comes near the end of the year and Wario Land 2 before the end of next summer. There's a chance they could release a GBC game before WL2, but considering the rate they're releasing the GB games, I don't think that's likely. Even if it were, we'd likely get just one Color game before WL2.

Like my Jr. High geography teacher used to tell me when I asked when we'd get a grade on an assignment, "Oh, sometime next July, Walter" (which he said more like Walder). Next July may actually be pretty accurate, the rate things are going. Another thing to factor is that Nintendo will likely spread GBC releases around farther, since there weren't near as many GBC games as GB games. I do hope the Zelda Oracle games come eventually.

Someone remind me again which GameBoy Color title(s0 did we get? Think i'ma little lost and confused myself with which 1s we're still waiting on from the Ambassador Program. I just checked, I know it's the Advance 1s we're waiting for, but I'm not sure I recall seeing any color titles except if you count Zelda: 4 Swords Anniversary but that wasn't like a re-release so i dunno if i' even consider that1 technically......

Zelda: Link's Awakening.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Personally I'd love it if they'd just throw Warlocked up on there. Amazing GBC game that basically is a blatant ripoff of the original Warcraft. You have a Human and an Orc campaign, both have like a dozen levels or more. Amazing attention to detail given the format, a good many voice samples, decent audio, and the control oddly actually works quite well.

They will. Nintendo seems intent on making the 3DS the ultimate system for Zelda fans. Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Link's Awakening DX, Four Swords Anniversary Edition, Ocarina of Time 3D, the possible Majora's Mask 3D, the ability to play Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, the likely Minish Cap ambassador release, and the new 3DS-original Zelda that Aonouma said would come next after Skyward Sword. And that's if the 3DS only gets one Zelda... unlikely, since the SNES is the only main Nintendo system I can think of that only got one Zelda game. So you can probably add another one to the list. So if the 3DS is going to become the definitive Zelda system, why not go all out and bring the Oracle games, too?
