Japan's sure getting on with the Wario Land series. They're certainly very GENEROUS about releasing them all this soon, which is pretty ironic considering these are Wario games . I'm still playing the foist one, so I'm in no hurry for the sequels, but I sure hope Wario Land 2's not far off from the EU Virtual Console, plus America should get Wario Land 1 soon too.
I've said this before, but I'm gonna explode from happiness when they finally release WL2, as that game's up there with OOT&Majora as my "best game of all time"! And I never played Wario Land 3, but it looks equally awesome, so I'm also craving for that, but I just wanna re-experience WL2 as soon as possible!
I really can't seem to like 4 too well for some reason. I don't know if it's because the stages require backtracking, or the fact that it doesn't feel like the original Wario Land that much. It's still a fun game, but it doesn't really interest me like the others.

WOOOOT!!!! Looks like we will be getting Warioland next month. I so cant wait any longer for this game but at least now I know how long I will have to wait. What do you guys think about the announcement?

I'm very excited about it; I love 4 and Shake It!, so I've always wanted to give the first three games a go. I just bought a cartridge for 3, so by the end of July, Wario Land 2 should be the only game in the series left on my "to-play list" (well, not counting VB Wario Land, but I'm not buying a Virtual Boy to play one game).
I've really struggled to get into Wario Land. I'm not a big fan of that jump mechanic, with movement generally feeling quite floaty, but generally the game is failing to hold my interest. The levels are quite easy and uninspired, with deaths mostly coming from a lack of attention. It's a shame because I much enjoyed the first two Mario Land games and was glad to see they took the series down a new avenue. I'm just having to force myself to complete this one, unfortunately.
I know i'm in the minority here.
I'm with you on that. I enjoyed both previous Mario games on the GB, but I dont find the Warioland games enjoyable.
...Wait, I thought III was the GBC game? NL says its being released tomorrow, but it looks like II. Ugh, I'm so confused. :c
Never mind, misread it as usual. lol
I'm wanting to get Wario Land when it releases tomorrow in the U.S., but there's one thing that worries me.
I didn't like Wario Land 4, because you had to race back to the beginning of a level under a time limit, once you found the treasure (or whatever it is you were trying to get to). Are the older games set up like that?

Having discovered 1 and 2 on the VC, I can't say that it's my favourite platforming series. The physics is definitely what's getting to me, but there's no denying that the bosses are some of the most creative and ingenious in the history of the genre. I'm always looking forward to the bosses in either game.
I've never tried 4 since I'm not an ambassador, but I won't mind playing 3 when I'm done with 2. How long is 2, anyway? I've put in at least 3 hours and it doesn't look like I'm even halfway yet...
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
I've now played through the first world (area, whatever you want to call it), along with a few levels in the next area, and am quite impressed.
I believe it's more difficult than the Mario Land games, in fact the level of difficulty is almost surprising, but it could just be that I'm not quite used to the play style yet.
The graphics are quite good (by the time the game was released, they obviously knew the system's capabilities in and out, and how to get the most from 8-bit graphics in general). Not only is every area different, but the individual levels themselves all have some unique features you can't find anywhere else.
The only thing slightly dissapointing is that if it weren't for Wario's inclusion, I'd have no idea that this is supposed to take place in the Mario Universe. No "?" Blocks, differently designed blocks, and no variations on Mario enemies (not that I'm complaining about the new baddies, but I'm surprised that I haven't seen any Mario baddies modified for the game). Of course, this could all change as I get deeper into the game.

I'm loving this game.. have never played it before but yeah, the jump mechanic is a little strange, takes getting used to. I'm loving how much detail went into this game, though. So far so good!
