I'm kind of stumped right now....
I mean I'm dieing to play Wario Land 2, Wario Land 3, Mega Man V, TMNT III: Radical Rescue and Contra: Operation C on the GB....
All of those aside from TMNT III will definitly blast their way on the 3DS's VC in the near(hopefully) future....MMV however won't make it probably for another few years, who knows! While we haven't even got the first WL let or Mega Man....So again, who knows how long it will take to even see it's sequal.

So anyways, what I'm getting at is that ya i could play my copies of WL2, WL3 and Operation C on my GB right now. but i won't for two reasons. as we all know, the GB Color is almost impossible to play unless you have a lamp hovering over your head so you can actually see the screen. And that is a mondo no no in my goopey goosebump books.lol

I was thinking about dishing out $100 to get a Back/Front light installed into my Gameboy Color, SO i can actually see and play these games. But a $100 seems a bit crazy-steep for my liking. Plus playing these GB titles on the 3DS, or eventually when i do will 'add' more memories and experiences on the 3DS and yadah yadah.

Hmmm, vhat to do....Get the black light and play these titles, or wait for their release on the 3DS....And it still annoys me that i have these games in my collection unplayed.

I recommend getting them, it could be a while until we see them on VC. Also, the backlight problem could be solved by playing on GBA SP.

I would recommend getting the cartridges for games that will probably come later, like the later Wario Land games, TMNT, and (maybe) Mega Man V, and instead of shelling out $100 for a GBC backlight, you should probably just buy a GBA SP for around $30.

I've got a GBA SP, but i cannot stand playing GB titles on it.
It just doesn't feel right...Plus Nintendo made the brain dead move by not adding a Headphone jack input, so now i have to stick a long dongle adapter on it, which hangs out akwardly with my other long headphone adapter busting out of it.lol

It comes off looking like some Sega Frankenstein abomination. Plus, the GBA shrinks down the screen a bit too much for my like for Gameboy games.....Hell, i dont even use it for GBA games, as the DS Lite GBA compatiblity offers superior color, contrast and of course brightness. Plus I love having that retro feel with the GB Color when playing GB games...Although playing them on the 3DS feels great too.

But Yup! Mega Man V seems to be a game that i should totaly get on considering it's the 5th in the MM GB franchise, and we won't be seein that one for a longggg time, while TMNT III won't even make it. But again, $100 for a backlight? Eek! Knowing me i may fork over the cash...

Depends. If you're patient, you'll be able to save a few bucks, as I can not see Nintendo passing up releasing the amazing Wario Land on the VC, and MMV and Conta are relatively big names also, so I don't see them not being released. But if you absolutely have to have them now, then I suppose you coud get the cartidges and a GBA SP. I would recommend the former personally, but hey, that's just me.

EDIT: I see in your above pst you don't want to play it on a GBA SP. In that case, I would highly recommend waiting for the VC release, unless you have some serious nostalgia for the GBC or shudders the original GB's screen.

I'm sure we'll be seeing Wario land rear it's head once SML2 is released. Those titles will obviosuly be coming, where as Conta: Operation C will come completely out of nowhere unexpected. While again TMNT III will not be, total bummer dude.
The cartridge alone is a rare breed indeedy....I've only come across 1 copy of it on Amazon, never any luck with eBay.

I think....I'll wait for Wario Land 2, 3 and Contra: Operation C to hit the 3DS's VC....But for Mega Man V(which we won't see for years) and TMNT III(which won't even be released), nadahh!

Also, those GB Color light magnifiers and Snake Lights are awful...there's gotta be something i can use aside from a massive lamp hovering over my head. I had to do with that Castlevania II: Belmont's revenge, which kind of mucked up the experience....Great game aside.lol

I would almost always choose getting the cart over waiting for the VC release. Outside of maybe a few exceptionally expensive/rare titles, it's usually not worth the wait.

Besides, I have no problem playing old Game Boy games on my GBA SP.

You know, I bought a GBC and a few games. But one time when it was off the batteries started heating up so much it burnt and I had to use a screw driver to get it out. Any ideas on why this would happen and how I could fix it? I've been playing the GBC games on GBA SP ever since.

You can't beat playing the original cart on the system it was ment for that's for sure.
But playing these titles on the 3DS 'add's to the 3DS experience....It's always great to experience those obscure or whichever classics you missed out on for the Wii's VC for example. but ya....I just can't justify spending $100 on a back light...

And by doing that, I'd have to let the guy take apart my GBA SP and use 'that' light on the GB Color.

If you have a SNES, a Super Gameboy is another option you can go. Than you can play your GBC and GB games on the big screen.

On and I agree with you Waveboy GB gams just look odd on the GBA SP I am almost tempted to pick up the original Gameboy from a retro store near me either that or just pick up a SUper Gamboy adapter.

Get the cartridges for now. If you really have to have save states then sell them later when they get released on the 3DS in your region.

The snakes lights aren't that bad for me. They get the job done and let me play at night. Anyway, I would agree to buy the carts since some of them won't make it to the virtual console for a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time. Maybe hold off on the Wario Land games since they seem to be the most likely to get ported to the virtual console. Actually I think I may have one of the Wario Land games lying around if you're interested.

I don't see Myths and Monsters making it to North America. Or Wario land for that matter....looks like I may resort to ebay. I've never got to play Myths and Monsters, and I'm kind of getting sick of week after week of random junk I've never heard of, instead of the games we ask for.

The Super Game Boy for SNES can be found relatively cheap and it´s great. The only way I play Game boy games nower days.

Considering the OP already came to a decision, this thread has long since run its course.
