@Link79: You're not the only one. I even like SML2 better than SMW. The GB Marios were just really original I mean it had the "Mario physics" there and than some. I mean they could have just made a lazy port of the NES games like Capcom did with the Megaman games but they didnt with the Marioland series. One of the reason I have held on to my GBA so I can play both of them when I get the craving.

Mario land 2 was even better! I got it for my 13th birthday along with my very first Gameboy. The moon zone and Pumpkin zone were my favorites. I still have the cartridge but I'll probably buy it again anyway when it comes to the e shop. Man that seems like a long time ago. Great memories!

Thing I liked about Mario Land 2 is the very different levels. You had the 'huge' house levels, the toy levels, moon levels- there's lot's of variety compared to the other Mario games. And each Boss battle is very very different. There should be Super Mario Land 4 (though SML3 is actually Wario Land). It's also interesting that Mario wears an indian-like feather hat when he's Fire Mario. Probably just to differentiate since it's hard to do so on GB's monochromness.
And I can still hear SML2's theme playing in my head clearly... It's always stuck to me... And I have not played the game in over 10 years.
@ Xkhaoz3D LOL that's hillarious! The game has some really bizzare stuff going on that's for sure.

I prefer the physics in Super Mario Land to the NES game... I find it a lot easier and perhaps even more enjoyable to play than Super Mario Bros. (though this may be because I played the game so much when it came out). Suppose it also has the nostalgia factor for me, which the NES does not.
Super Mario Land was my first video game. Got it for my 6th birthday with the Gameboy.
Here's how I remember playing it: I needed weeks to get through 2-3 and month to get 3-3. I remember playing for hours, trying again and again and thinking one day I will make it. Then after a long time, when we were goingt on holidays I finally managed to finish the final boss and bragged to all of my friends.
Here's what happened last wednesday: I installed the game and had beaten the final boss after 35 minutes.
Anyway. Love the game. It controls soooo well and the level design is cool. Now I'll try to beat my own highscore.
wait untill we get Super Mario Land 2, It's even worst!
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
It never was super pretty or even super long, but it is a fantastic set of Mario gameplay stages and mechanics mixed in with that really unique super ball attack which also worked as a coin grabber which I found cool from day one. I think you can kill it in like 30-40min if you know what you're doing, but that just means you can get more for your limited time and just come back around and do it again.

No, but I've played this before, and the "unofficial" part of the title amused me enough to contribute.
I've been wobbling and teetering just a little bit now that Jump and Turtle say they're getting one and will have SFIV and MK3D, but probably not going to happen, unless they completely stop playing Brawl, too. As long as I've got something to play online on the weekends, I'm good to go.
I just beat the game for the second time today. I did it in one go too! It took me around 45 minutes. The hard mode kept me on my toes. It's really fun to relive this game from my childhood. Although I do miss the colors from playing on the gameboy color. Other then that I'm really happy with the game.
I beat the game this morning and was sort of surprised that ended so soon.
You've got to remember the original game had no save facility whatsoever. You had to play it through in one sitting. This was considered a pretty long game to finish without a save.

I hadn't played this game since I was a kid (it was my first GB cart) and I am loving it. I forgot how awesome the music was, the second that first levels tune started up, I had a smile from ear-to-ear.

Has anyone run this in original resolution? It's brilliant! Puts a border of an original GameBoy around the display and the image of the game is set back slightly using the 3D effect of the screen!
To run in original resolution, hold Start & Select during boot the same as with DS games.
Other controls include holding down L+R and pressing X to enable or disable restore points and holding L+R and pressing Y to toggle green screen effect.
I like the fact that it puts a nice GameBoy border around the game. However, I don't reemeber the screen looking so small. Another thing I noticed too if you change over to original GameBoy screen color, maybe it's just me, but the colors seem a little/slightly brighter than the original monochromatic screen.
