I know, it is not that hard! Nintendo needs to stop putting this aside! It's unfair that the Japanese will have gotten this nearly a year before we have. Screw you, Nintendo of America & Europe! I'm tired of waiting for this! Just release it and we'll stop giving you a hard time!

Well, right now I don't mind if this game doesn't release until Halloween or shortly after that time, because I got grounded until Halloween (my birthday). And I just realized that Halloween/my birthday is a Nintendo Download day, so that'll be exciting! Just don't let me down that day, Nintendo...

The game and its detailed + new 3DS in-game pics are already on the Eshop if you search the game. Go see the website for proof of new 3DS in-game screens.

Hopefully this means it'll finally come out this week or next. I'm honestly tired of waiting for this game.

Dude, of COURSE it is! It's on the Eshop, not just the dang website anymore. We are getting closer to the gold, just a few more shovel thrusts!

I'd love to get this. But has Nintendo edited their 3DS NES VC emulator to have button remapping options?

I need to be able to select Y to run and B to jump like I can in the Wii U emulator in order to enjoy this game. Rigidly mapping A & B on the NES gamepad to match the button lettering on Nintendo's ABXY layout just doesn't work well for me in a game like this. I need control like Super Mario All-Stars that will allow me to comfortably run and jump simultaneously rather than the awkwardness of holding B down to run while using A to jump that just doesn't fit well with my thumb on the ABXY button layout (And is why games like Super Mario World, the New Super Mario Brothers games, and their SuperNes updates of these NES games on Super Mario All-Stars use Y to run & B to jump).

Ever had a Gameboy(Color)(Advance)? Nintendo Entertainment System?

Of course, but with the buttons side by side like on the original NES gamepad or the more typical option for two button Nintendo hardware where B is slightly elevated compared to A, I can deal with it just fine. But when they're at a 45 degree angle to each other on the ABXY layout, it's not comfortable to hold B down while hitting A to jump.

It's why on the vast majority of games programmed on ABXY button layouts that Y & B are used for your two primary functions and why most any 2D platformer on such a layout, including Nintendo's own port of Super Mario Brothers 3 to the Super Nintendo, will rely on Y to run and B to jump. You see the same thing on Playstation and Microsoft hardware with their similar button layouts. Square and X are more likely to be used than circle and triangle, for instance.

Yes, but if your thumb is wide enough, you can easily get used to it after some time.

There was no getting used to it the other way, It just worked and felt natural. I struggled through World 8 on the SMB3 GBA port a few months ago on my DS Lite when my nice backlit SP model started giving me issues that needed repair and didn't like it one bit. I know I'm not alone by the fact that they used these very two buttons on most software programmed for such a layout such as Super Mario All-Stars, I've seen many other complaints, and Nintendo even provided such an option on the Super Game Boy accessory for the Super Nintendo back in the day to use Y & B to maximize comfort instead of A & B for matched button lettering..
I even bought an original Game Boy Advance, the black one that matches the black GameCube & Game Boy Player, to use as a Game Boy Player controller with the GBA to GCN link cable since the GameCube button layout like on 1st party wired and wireless controllers and the Hori digital gamepad was similarly as ill suited for certain types of Game Boy games as A & B are on the ABXY SuperNes style setup. No such trouble playing games on something designed for the same games and it's comfortable thanks to its horizontal layout and the non lit screen means battery life is excellent. But I digress.

I'd love a nice handheld option to play the original NES version of Super Mario Brothers 3. But I need to be able to use Y & B.

Who knows, in the near future Nintendo could allow people to customize their button layouts like the Wii U

Yeah, but I'd rather have it not sit around and collect dust. Anyways, SMB3 is most likely coming soon because it's been listed on the Wii U & 3DS eShop services!

I wish Nintendo would create a "Super Mario Bundle", where you spend 14.99$ or 14,99€ and you get:

  • Super Mario Bros
  • Super Mario Bros - The lost levels
  • Super Mario Bros 2
  • Super Mario Bros 3

Basically you pay for three VC games and get the fourth free.
I think it's feasible, no?

I have another Ambassador type bundle idea. If you already have SMB, SMB2, and SMBLL, then you can get SMB3 for no charge. :)
