Same here. I've been wanting it for so long and it's awesome that it came out the week after Revenge of the 'Gator, another game I've been wanting on the Eshop for so long. Got no money at the present though

I love the Star Soldier series.

Another generic top-view shooter game. It's not like we have five of these already...oh wait YES WE DO.

I like to play Nintendo games (for a living :P)
I support Wii U.
I love my brother.
I like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, and Donkey Kong.

This game gets no love, man. The Star Soldier series is my favourite SHMUP series ever. Yes I even love the NES game. I have fond memories playing it back in the day. I like you can go underneath platforms.

Yeah, because not being able to see your character in a shooting game is such a good idea. Almost as good of an idea as inconsistantly not letting you go through some platforms, instead causing you to crash and burn despite there being no noticable differences between the platforms you can go through. Surely the developers of this game must be geniuses. <_<

I'm sorry, but this is hands-down the worst shooter I've ever played, and I've played some very crappy ones over the years.

Gee I dunno. I never had any issues with the platforms when I played it years ago. I think these old SHMUPs are better than the recent ones being made today, Star Soldier included. The 8-bit and 16-bit eras for SHMUPs were awesome.

I really like the Gamecube remake of this. (Bought 2/3/4 of the Hudson Selection for far too much but they are good).

(At least I think it is. I have only seen videos of this.)

The PSP/GCN remake of Star Soldier is totally different from the NES game, BTW. They're nowhere near the same game.

The TG16 games are infinitely better.

Different style completely to the Gamecube one. (I like both - I have done all of Soldier Blade / Final Soldier / Blazing Lasers - Up to Level 5 on Super Star Soldier and up to the Balloon (7th ?) level on Star Parodier (Cannot put up with the lag it has). They are all quite similar. Don't think I have got past the 3rd level on the Gamecube one. (Not worked out how to start on the level I finished on and I only have one go normally.)

I don't like this NES version at all. (I do like RECCA).

The Star Soldier games aren't really that bad. They're pretty good shooters and are extremely fun. My second classic space shooter series favorite after the Galaga series. I personally prefer them over Xevious and Gradius.

Star Soldier had to be one of the first scrolling shooters made on the NES, aside from maybe Xevious, so I don't think it should be expected to be as good as other games.

I like them. Don't think they are as good as any of the Compile ones though. (Not sure about Zanac don't like that one that much).

I prefer the PC Engine Star Soldier games to Galaga. (I think '88 is the best one I have played). Galaxian being the first one in that series I played I think I would prefer this NES Star Soldier to that. (Or Starforce VC Arcade).

Blazing Lasers
M.U.S.H.A
Space Megaforce
Gun-Nac
Powerstrike 2
Robo Aleste

(All of them are the best or almost the best on their respective consoles. Especially if you consider how early in the lifetimes of the console many of them were made).

Star Force (NES) was 1985
