Square-Enix doesn't need to release anything on the 3DS and Wii U VCs when they can port/remake it for Steam, PSN and XBL, charging $10-$20 for each game with PS1 games running $15-$17.
The NPD Group defines a core gamer... See Nintendo isn't part of the "hardcore"/core gaming group according to NPD data.

@Mario90125:
Square can be odd.
But they chose to release FFVI on iOS for $16 in the West instead.

@Bass_X0:
Then go buy and download FFVII on PS4 for $16 instead or Steam for that matter...

They want to charge more than the standard VC price for their older titles, and remaking/remastering is the way to do that. Just look at their mobile market.
Currently Playing: SMITE, ROTTR, Halo 5: Guardians (XB1), Xenoblade Chronicles X (WiiU), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2 (3DS)
I have FFIV on almost everything I own, but I still don't get how they haven't released anything on the VC yet. Though I blame both NOA and Square for this
Are the Game Boy Final Fantasy games worth obsessing over to be released on Virtual Console? I've played Final Fantasy Legend III and while I enjoyed it at the time, it was pretty simplistic. I'd still download all four Final Fantasy games if they ever did come though, especially Final Fantasy Adventure which is actually part of the Seiken Densetsu series (with the other three actually being part of the SaGa series).
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
Square Enix could make a killing if they released official localizations for retro games that were never formally released in the west. Seiken Denetsu 3 would be top of my list.
Text heavy RPGs will never come to the west unless somehow they can sort the legality of using fan translations. I played a good Seiken Densetsu 3 translation years ago. I'd give Square money if I can download it officially too. I just had to play it.
