I never owned a SNES, so I would like the opportunity to be able to play the great games everyone keeps talking about. Like Link to the Past and Chrono Trigger.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

Chrono Trigger is overrated. I'm looking forward to playing Link to the Past though - whatever form we get it in on the 3DS.
ya ive wanted to play link to the past too. (im not really a zelda fan though.) im thinking about getting on my SNES but mabye i should wait. (i just got metroid zero mission and it a blast so its keeping me busy.)

Obviously. It's been scientifically proven that providing the games that you want will have extremely negative consequences the industry. I have proof!

I'm guessing we will see SNES games on 3DSVC but not until the end of the 3DS lifespan. You can see patterns of this now in the way they're pushing GB titles at the moment. My theory is they're deliberately holding back because if they release SNES games now, it's less likely that the GB/GBC was perform (sales wise) as strong as they would if they're the only ones available on the digital medium. Whereas, by methodically working their way up, each of the VC games they're trying to promote get their due exposure without the distractions of a more superior brand of games like the SNES.
But, when SNES games comes along, the 3DSVC suddenly looks fresh and innovative because the service has moved beyond handhelds. It's definitely not a case of "whether they can" but rather "when they should". It will happen but as always it will be on Nintendo's terms with little to no input from their consumers.

Most companies act that way. Look at Sony, they just now put 2 analog sticks on their new handheld, after years of customer complaints regarding the PSP.

Definitely.
In fact, with Sony it's something of an anomaly they have a universal online store to cater for their home and handheld consoles alike. I was equally surprised by Apple who allow downloads to multiple devices for the one price. In short, Nintendo really can't afford not to go in this direction. But again, it will happen when their balance sheets give the go ahead.
Didn't Nintendo mention somewhere that they were bringing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past to 3DS as a 3D Classic?
Yeah, the Zelda director(I think) always wanted to remake ALttP in 3D. I always thought that they would completely re-do with a 3D world, gameplay etc. but now it seems that they'll keep the original top down look but just make it a 3D classic.
I only remember that in E3 2010 Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island were announced as 3D classics.
BTW what about 3D SNES Sim City? 3D would make that game look like first GTA (flat streets and people, 3D buildings). Also it would be cool to see Dr. Wright in 3D.
Nintendo should just release the top 10 games from each system and cash in on their own successes. I don't see what's so difficult about that! lol $$$$ talks, right?

you'd have a hard time finding a top ten that everyone agrees with and would download.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
I really hope that the SNES library gets representation in the 3DS's VC. While I know that the Wii takes care of the SNES with its VC, I've felt for more than half a decade now that handheld experiences are more special than just sitting in front of a TV. That being said, I'll invest much more into SNES downloads if they were offered on the eShop, and would re-buy Super Metroid, though I do think they should create a Wii/3DS transfer tool if this option does happen.
