Look at the amazing selection of gba and ds games available on the 3ds.

Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of the virtual console? You know being able to enjoy old games without having to get an old game console/handheld and while supporting the creators of said game?

I thought the purpose of VC was for Nintendo to make the most amount of money with the least amount of effort. :T

I bet they are getting in their own way on VC Releases. They probably want each game to be emulated with 100% accuracy (or as close as they can get) and their desire for that is what is slowing down VC releases. At least it is nice knowing every VC release works correctly.

The reason they won't localize Pokemon is simple. The Pokemon Company is greedy. They know that if they let people buy the old games for cheap, some people might not buy the new ones.

Are you meaning the reason why Pokémon isn't on VC, well they have said they don't like the old games as they are. MissingNo was a way for the makers to fill in the blank spots of the addresses for Pokémon. If you were to examine them on a mechanic and gameplay basis, they are rather unbalanced and lacked what people are complaining about in the current gens, and the linking abilities have to be supported or the games are even worth putting up on VC. I would love to see Nintendo have Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow released on the VC, supporting all of the features the games have including a save to photo for the Game Boy Printer. Doing all of that work is not worth the price of 5-6 bucks unless everyone with a 3DS buys it. It makes more sense for Game Freak to rerelease the old games in new engines.

If it forced them to do more than dump a rom into a largely featureless emulator (especially when they started), and actually justify charging $5-$12, then yes, I wouldn't miss it for a moment. But the it's too late now, sadly...

Pokémon Pinball and Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble are the only two I want on the 3DS Virtual Console.

I think that SNES games are coming soon they have been rumors and also with that dragon ball z game thing it seems possible.but I think it will be limited to early non extra chip games that just use the SNES itself and all those modes that are no extra chip based.Also could point to super game boy support. But they will most likely put the 3ds(original models) could have non screenshots support and new 3ds has it they do have one game without it and it is pokemon trading card game.

To be honest, I'm kind of surprised SNES support isn't a thing here yet. I mean, the 3DS has been hacked and it's been proven that the console can handle SNES emulators just fine, so why Nintendo can't do something officially is utterly beyond me.

@CM30: I'm thinking maybe Club Nintendo replacement featuring crossbuy (Wii U and 3DS) hence there not being any point putting any on the eshop until the end of September or early October.

I want someone to check behind me but I went on the esrb website and type in super Mario world (you have to type it out full and on all platforms) and the second one it have it for Nintendo with nothing behind it but it is put in like a 3DS virtual console and regular game.

I'll believe it when I see it. I just want GBA and SNES and Metal Gear Ghost Babel on the damn thing already
