So, I thought about the topic where somebody wanted to play the non-DX version of Link's Awakening. And I thought... is there any game where you think the GB version would be preferable?
Since Yoshi is on the Ambassador program, Yoshi's Cookie is almost inevitable. And I realize I'd rather have the Game Boy version over the NES (yes, the SNES version is better, but it's also a third-party game, so we can probably rule that one out.) For one reason: the GB version has a player-vs-CPU option. You choose one CPU opponent (Yoshi, Peach or Bowser, which I guess is the difficulty select). Or if you had three friends with the game, it supported a 4-player mode. AFAIK, the NES had no VS. CPU option. And while Nintendo hasn't revealed NES pricing for 3DS VC, it's probably safe to say they'd be pretty close in price.
Depends on the game. There are some games that are better on the Game Boy while others lack the same appeal
Which games are better on the Game Boy? Isn't that the main question KingMike is asking?
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

No its not. Its a brand new game which also includes the four original stages of the arcade game.
By that logic, you'd call Super Mario Bros. 3 an enhanced remake of 1983 Mario Bros.
And people who originally played it in 1994 tend to call it Donkey Kong '94 since that was what it was usually referred to back then despite it not being the official name.
A complete re-make of the original arcade game on the Game Boy, named Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong '94 contained levels from both the original Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr arcades. Donkey Kong, also called Game Boy Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong 94, is an enhanced remake of the original Donkey Kong. Among the new features were enhanced graphics, more levels, and new gameplay mechanics.
My point is, the game boy one is much better than the nes one. Which is what the person above me asked (though i am not sure if that person was asking about the GBC or the NES).
We don't need to derail this thread over things like this, seriously. Any future comments on how the game is or is not a remake will be ignored (by me, that's it).
Anyone complaining about a VC release having colour need to pay attention to the fact that the confirmed ratio so far of GB:GBC is 24:1. I still think Nintendo should release the GB and GBC versions of games where they were released on both platforms in one bundle upon sale.

Well, I know there are some games (Like the original Harvest Moon for GB) where the graphics are more detailed in B&W than in color. I guess adding both versions in a same download would be much better than releasing each separately.
They should add the option to play in GB or GBC mode, though.
The GB Kid Icarus is better than the NES one, right?
That's up for debate, but they're both very much worth playing.
It's possible that, if the NES one is released, it might be like the Wii's VC version with the cheat codes omitted. Might be cheap to use, but was fun on a replay. The GB version would have nothing missing.
The difference with Kid Icarus is that it isn't two versions of the same game. Of Myths and Monsters is a sequel. I think the point of the thread was more along the lines of "Are there two versions of some games among which the GameBoy release was the preferable one?"

Yea thats what I mean. Download the game and upon opening it choose between the GB or GBC version.

Granted, but they were the only two (and comparable) Kid Icarus games.

The Game Boy version was a sequel, very different game. One major improvement is that levels can scroll in all directions, so you don't die from falling off the screen. Also, the GB version used a backup memory save, so there's no worries about cheats being removed.
Why anyone would want a Pea green version of a Gameboy game that's been colorized is beyond me. Least of all Link's awakening. What you don't like it in full color with an extra dungeon? That's taking your nostalgia way too far. Might as well break out the old Atari.

I'll concede that they are vastly different from each other, I just thought they are comparable minus the improvement with screen scrolling. Not all of the cheats has to do with level selection.

Map select glitch. It can do so much. It can get serious to the point that it can make the cartridge unplayable, which won't be worried about on the 3DS. Of course, most of us won't spoil the adventure with this on the first go, it's about the replay.
