Not gonna lie, I bought Link's Awakening and It's cool and all, but SO confusing! I never know what to do next. I'm still in the first dungeon and can't find a way out of it at all. I guess I'll settle with an online walkthrough video but I'm way too lazy for all that :P

but...there's an owl that tells you where to go between every dungeon. And there are little owl-faces that tell you where to go/what to do inside each dungeon. I'd recommend not even attempting the original Legend of Zelda for NES or Link to the Past for SNES, because there's almost no handholding there.

And I don't understand the concept of "too lazy for a walkthrough".

I'm in love with this game, and I've only put in 2 1/2 hours. My nostalgia on Link's Awakening is a bit shadey so it's feeling a lot more fresh, yet i definitly remembered those side scroller sections with the goomba's haha. It's pretty crazy that Nintendo had the balls to stick Chomp Chomps, Spinies and goomba's in a Zelda game. :p There are probably even more that I'm unaware of.

Anyways, I basically finished the first dungeon, and saved and quit 5 minutes afterwards. Anyways, you see I basically grew up on the original LOZ and Zelda II: Adventure of Link back on the Nes. Those 2 were thee' zelda games of my childhood, while I only 'watched' my best friend play ALTTP here and there during it's release. It blew me away back in the day, but sadly i never actually played it, just watched. While OOT and MM as bogus as it sounds completely escaped me somehow aside from getting 20 minutes of playtime on OOT. Then there was Wind Waker which I completely loathed and grew totaly bored of and ended up quitting during the final area.

PHG was a fun one for what it was, with it's brilliant use of touch screen controls...Yet it's bland(artistically) dungeons and unappealing 3D graphics were a turn off at least for me. After I'm done with LA, i think i'll play through ALTTP and then OOT 3D. Don't care for TP, while minish cap totaly looks like my cup of tea. And I'm completely stoked for Skyward Sword. B-)

There's some noob zelda mumbo jumbo for ya! :p

Good grief charlie brown, the first dungeon is quite the breeze. :p
I wonder how well you would do with Zack & Wiki.

Dude, I love your name, all you need is a Shy Guy decked out in medieval times Sumarai Gear and you're good to go. B-)
Anyways, ya it really does just seem like it's you and me now.lol As for me, I currently just finished up the 3rd Dungeon and i must it admit it had me stumped for a while. The use of item combinations and dungeon layout and so fourth are just brilliant in this game. I can't get enough of it. :D

The original LOZ pales in comparison on every front, Although I still feel that the original LOZ has the greatest Dungeon Tune, which hits all the rights notes as it's very spooky, gloomy and atmospheric on top of it all. B-) My only complaint is that the difficulty could be a bit higher. Even IF you die in a dungeon, you come back alive with everything that you already had done, except you start in the beginning room. Big Whoop, so there's no real punishment, which can destroy the intensity and sense of reward with it all. The reward however comes in based on finding what item, or where to go or just what to do in general when you're stumped after a while.

If I had it my way, once you die in a dungeon you should have to repeat it all over again....Then again, that may seem a bit harsh...Maybe having 2 lives would make up for that. ;)

haha, I'm still in the middle of Link's Awakening. I took a break for OoT3D, but I'm down to be part of the discussion! I think I'm in the 4th or 5th dungeon... I'll open it up later today and see what's what.

This is easily one of my more favorite Zelda games, although it is pretty hard to pick in choose in a franchise with so many excellent entries. ALttP is my absolute favorite hands down, and Link's Awakening is somewhat a spiritual successor. Plus the items that were added for Link's Awakening, like the Roc's Feather, are really cool and novel, and a lot of them never appeared again. I also love seeing the evolution of the ocarina throughout the games, with Link's Awakening's ocarina being able to play 3 different songs.

I am on chapter 4....Link to the Past is my fav Zelda....maybe the best game of all time....Link's Awakening is indeed similar to it, but a lil how do i say,....It's still enjoyable, but with a walktrough.....i just can't be bothered to solve clues for 80 hours, if you know what i mean....It gives me a break from OoT 3d.....

I want to collect and finish all Zelda games....that's one of my goals in this life! :)

Thanks. I can't find a good pic that depicts the essence of a samurai shy guy, so I just left my pic blank. Anyways, back in the day, when I was playing my first two zelda games, Link's Awakening and Ocarina, I beat Ocarina but never beat LA. I really look forward to beating it this time, now that I'm a more experienced gamer.

I never beat the original Zelda because there was this room filled with stuff that needed to be killed with bombs. I ran out of bombs, didn't know where to find more bombs, then quit. I need to beat every zelda game. The only zelda game I've never played are the Oracle games. The Philips CDi games don't count. ;D

I never got into OOA or OOS, mainly because those were techinically 'Capcom' Zelda games, which imo just doesn't really seem right. Yet funny enough, I'm all for Minish Cap(the other Capcom developed Zelda title) as that game looks just wonderful. :p

But OOS and OOA look pretty simular to LA in ways.....But I'm not too sure. I'd have to ask myself do I honestly want to spend alll of that time playing the two when they both most likely offer an all too simular experience? They also both look like they lack the charm of LA. But ya, I might just check them out whenever they do in fact hit the 3DS's VC.

and Dude, just stick in a regular ShyGuy as your Avatar. :p I have Splash woman in mine, she's not exactly looking anything like a 'Waveboy'lol but, I'm rocking the aquatic theme in full force, so it's kind of simular. I was thinking about switching it to maybe Bubble man, but i think I'll just stick with Splash W.

Advice taken. Hey, I like it better already. :D

But yeah, I don't know too much about the oracle titles. One cool thing I did hear is that Seasons is more action oriented and Ages is more puzzle oriented. Nintendo Power slightly prefers Seasons.

Vedy' nice Baby blue Shy guy. :p B-)
You should spice it up a little by giving it some crazy colorful background hehe.

Anyways! I've just beaten the 4th Water-based Dungeon, which is the one i mildy remember as a youngster actually hehe.
And compared to the 3rd Dungeon it was quite the breeze in comparison and nowhere near as tricky, but still fun nonetheless.

Spoiler And I loved that nice little touch when that key falls down into that whole, where you then discover that you have to go in a different room 'down stairs' which then leads to a side scroller water-based area, and once you get to the end of the room, you suddenly see the key fall right down into the water. I love stuff like that haha.

That aside, the way you fought the boss was pretty rad and fresh compared to the other 3 as well, lucky me as i ended up finishing him on one trinket of life. :p
But overall and while it was enjoyable, it's probably my least favorite dungeon of the floor. The ability to swim in the water isn't exactly that fun compared to the other abilities that you've previously earned.

Anyways, I had to stop as the gooey eyes were kicking in full force after the 2 hour mark. But yup! Time to get some shut eye, so I can save Zelda in my glorious dreams muhaha. B-)

i own this game and it's a great game.
But in a few parts of the game, i use a guide for a little while (i only read the first few sentences in the part that i'm stuck in and i do the rest), and some parts (maybe most of the times) i do it all myself so overall, the game is quite intense but still fun and i definately enjoy its story

How long is the gameplay in this one for someone who's never played a Zelda game or RPG before - is the game easy for a newcomer to the genre? Thanks.

This was mentioned earlier, but what exactly does it do to change your file name to "Zelda"? Does it make the enemies harder or something? I just beat the game but I want to keep on playing it and I'm looking for more of a challenge
