So I take it this is much better than Alleyway?

Yes. It is much more fun and creative than Alleyway (the whole boss aspect is great as well).

Although TBH, I actually enjoyed my Alleyway purchase, lol (I'll probably get hate for this, but I actually enjoyed Alleyway more than Game & Watch Gallery).

Sarcasm? Cant tell - assuming not.
It's a GB game that uses the same general mechanic as Kirby's Block Ball, but to a much less polished degree.

Not worth buying it unless you really are nostalgic about it though - Kirby's Block Ball is better and worth the extra £0.90 - assuming its even the higher price; im not sure.

Lol is that Mario on the boxart?

If by mario you mean "the paddle" Then yes.

I don't get why they like putting alleyway in the mario section... (In america at least).

But yes, Kirby's block ball is the better game. More variety, more challenge, more fun. But alleyway is a nice way to calm down. (If you don't mind the fact it gets boring after 27 levels)

It's a more traditional breakout clone. It is quite fun (and is longer than I thought it would be), but KBB simply one ups it in every department, and seeing as how they're the same price ($2.99), there's no reason to get Alleyway over KBB. Although, if you happen to enjoy the genre (like myself), it wouldn't be a mistake to get both.

As to why it's in the "Mario" section, it was an early example of Nintendo including Mario just to up sales. Technically, the paddle is a spaceship Mario is piloting (wierd, I know). If you lose all your lives, Mario will actually jump out of the paddle, lol. The bonus rounds feature the blocks forming 8-bit Mario sprites (Goomba, Bullet Bill, Bowser, ect).

This game is one of my favorite GameBoys games ever. I wish we could change the color filter like the GBA though...

Favorite Games: Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, and Call of Duty: Black Ops, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game, and Mega Man 5.

Agreed! But I still have the cartridge and dont want to shell out $3 because I am frugal! I did buy DK for 100 nintendo club coins though and also own that.

Still might download it...

I'm getting Alleyway, Golf, Tennis, Qiz (my button doesn't work) and and Baseball if they ever come out as Club Nintendo prizes. Wanna have these in my collection without having to pay for them.

Ignore golf completely. It will be beaten completely after you play once, and that gets boring fast!

Basically, if you're a fan of Breakout and Kirby then this game will be 3 dollars well spent. I like it a lot.

Alleyway is pretty simple because it was a launch game (for the real hardware as well as the eShop). I guess in 1989 getting a portable Arkanoid clone was pretty cool.

I never cared for Alleyway. Its just too slow and boring for me. Kirby's Block Ball is the only "break down the wall" type game I've enjoyed.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
