@LordJumpMad, that's very disappointing. I was pretty hyped about OMaM, but now I just feel let down. Oh well, I still have a new copy of KI:U on it's way.

yea, the game sucks.
All this talk about being better then the NES KI is a lie.

I'll agree that it's not better than the NES game, but I don't think it sucks.

It's just more of the same, but easier. While the GB games in Nintendo's other series' tried doing something that made them feel unique, this one stayed too close to the original in terms of both design and layout. It's almost like they took NES KI, toned the difficulty down, and slapped on a different boss set.

Not necessarily bad, but it ultimately fails to set itself apart in any meaningful way.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I don't even know where I'm going when I play this.

Any tips?

Huh? It's literally impossible to get lost in this game.
For the vertical levels, just keep going up, for the horzontal levels, keep going right.
Even the dungeon levels are relatively small, so if you hit a dead-end, just back track.

Perhaps you are getting confused by the fact that the vertical levels loop if you go lef-right?

This would be my reason.

Just like the NES original, huh? They must not have programmed the level designs, so you're able to easily distinguish where you are located. Right?

I never quite understood the people who labeled the original Kid Icarus as 'too hard' really? I can name ALOT(LOZ and Zelda II just to name a couple) more NES titles that smoke KI in the challenge department. The only thing i found difficult about Kid icarus was the 3rd Fortress, other than that everything else was just luke warm in terms of being toughy' And on the downside Pit became a bit too overpowered during the mid and later portion of the game making the later over and underworld stages seem actually easier.

Of Myths of Monsters however is a trip to EasyBreezyVille.

I grew up playing the original Kid Icarus on my NES. I found it pretty hard, too. It's so easy to die and there are some quite difficult areas (especially for kids.) I thought it was one of the toughest games out there at the time! In fact, I think Zelda 2 was hard, too, it's one of my favorite games, and I beat it in 3 months! This game, I still have not beat (or Kid Icarus: Myths and Monsters), the first is way tougher. The sequel isn't as hard and with this new release they have made continuing your game (and with restore points) much easier.

The only thing that made Kid Icarus 1 difficult was the falling to your death due to lack of being able to scroll down. Really, the game should've started with a horizontal stage, not a vertical one. And it sucked when you accidentally hit the down button and fell to your death. And lack of checkpoints.

But yeah, all of those negatives are gone in KI:OMaM. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Kid Icarus in general. I mean, there's only three games in the whole series. If you already have KI:Uprising and any version of KI1, then $4 is a low price to complete the series. I find KI1 and OMaM to be about even as far as fun goes.

Also, for anyone who doesn't know, in KI1, you fall slower if you hold the jump button. Similar to how you press the button repeatedly in OMaM to fall slower.

Isn't that just in the 3D Classics version?

Correct. That wasn't in the original NES version.

Beat it! Orcos was by far the easiest boss in the game, but he was also the most fun (also the most evil looking thing I've ever seen from Nintendo, lol).

He'll be a nice addition to my VC Boss Run (I always create a restore point at the beginning of every final boss fight, so I can fight them whenever I want, and sometimes I like to play 5 or so final bosses back to back).

Oh That's EXACTLY What I do because it's really fun.

Especailly In Metroid 2, DK 94', Double Dragon GB, Mega Man:Dr. Wily's Revenge and ALL 3 Super Mario Land Games.
And Maybe Kirby TOO.
