This is Japan only for now, unfortunately. However, this shows much promise for 3DS Virtual Console, especially Game Boy (Color) games. Excited? Share your thoughts.
This article says the multiplayer is for nes games only This forum does not mean anything, they are never going to add multiplayer to the Gameboy or Gameboy color because they can't emulate a stupid link cable.

What? That article says more NES games will get multiplayer updates and one will be Zelda. Zelda didn't even have multiplayer. And it also says 10 GBA will get the update. ... I hope they'll all (or at least half) have download play multiplayer.

Local Multiplayer was announced for the NES ambassador games before they were released.
It's going to be implemented for the obvious titles Ice Climber and Balloon Fight, where there is actual simultaneous multiplayer.
I'm looking forward to it though - finally some VC multiplayer
For those who hadn't heard of this before; No, this doesnt mean GB/GBC games will be getting multiplayer unfortunately, and no - this doesnt mean all the NES games will be getting multiplayer. It seems only the games with simulataneous multiplayer will be getting it as games like Super Mario Bros. can still be played in multiplayer by passing the 3DS around (not ideal - but that explains it).
It's suppose to emulate local multiplayer. The difference between this and Cable Link is it's emulating multiplayer on one "console" where's Gameboy it's two consoles and both have the game, IIRC.

Obviously I would want all Game Boy games to have multiplayer put in but Pokemon would almost be broken without wireless so I wouldn't mind paying a little extra to have wireless link-up play!
The article says we'll get these updates once all the ambassador games are available to purchase? I hope they're all put on the eShop soon! It's great that it's download play too. So much easier to find someone to play with.
