If they want to do things right, they'll need to modify the game at least a little.

I just hope Natsume won't end up adding bugs and glitches as they usually do though.

Also, since this was anounced by Natsume, woudln't it make this an America-only thing for now?

Maybe I don't understand your question. How would that make it an NA exclusive?

Natsume has the rights for Harvest Moon only in America, I think.

In Japan it's Marvelous and in Europe it's Rising Star. And, as far as I know, only Natsume has announced this.

I am definitely getting HM even though I already own the cartridge. I'm a huge Harvest Moon fan.

I've never played River King but I've always wanted to give it a try.

When do you suppose we'll get one or both of these games?

At the rate we get games? Next year, maybe two if Europe gets them first. :P

Well, that doesn't really mean its an exclusive, it just means that only Natsume has announced it so far. It could just hint that we're all getting it, even Japan might get it first. Rising Star games and Natsume could have an arrangement for games like this where they handle their specific regions, but one might let the information out before the other one. We in Japan have found out about games coming from non-Japanese rating systems. I found out about The Sword of Hope II coming to Japan by the OLFC rating. I think the same thing happened with the Kid Icarus game boy sequel.

Natsume is the publisher, not the rights holder.

It's a subtle difference, but Marvelous owns the rights to Harvest Moon. That means Natsume has been given the license, which also likely means that Rising Star will get the license.

@Morpheel Exactly. :) Anyway, even though I already have the SNES one on my Wii, I might get Harvest Moon for my 3DS also. If the sequels come out I might wait for one of those.

The rigth... To publish them. That's totally what I meant to say.
Anyways, I thought that could be the case since they would only be "republishing" it. Unless virtual consoles are considered new games too.

I actually like this game much more than the SNES one, the time on that one is so fast it's not funny. I can't even fish more than 2 fish before the day is over.
It may be that there are no other places to visit where time flows other than your farm, but it feels more balanced here.

Who knows, sometimes I think NOA just picks their 3DS VC releases out of a hat. Sometimes we get stuff almost as soon as we hear about an ESRB rating, sometimes we get them around the same time as Europe and sometimes stuff like Kid Icarus and Wario Land will just sit in the vault for ages after Japan and Europe got them.

Fixed.

Regardless, seeing how it's natsume we are talking about here, we may get it in late summer/fall. Depending on what they can work out regarding the clock.

And Harvest Moon on the SNES had a clock too? I know that's on wii VC. How does it work?

In SNES Harvest Moon, daytime lasts about 10 minutes, nighttime (6 o'clock) lasts until whenever you decide to go to sleep.

All harvest moons have "clocks", but they're actually just for in-game time.

HM GBC has a clock that works with real time, even when the game is off. Like pokemon gold and silver.
Though in-game days are still like 10-20 minutes long. The clock is used for other, unrelated features.

Well, I'm thinking that I might actually get both these games if they actually come out. I have the first Harvest Moon on the Wii VC, but I don't know why, but they just seem better fit for portables.

I see this thread's been inactive for awhile, but there's some new news. They should be comming at any time now, as the latest issue of NP confirmed them (according to eShopGamers.com).
