Both games have been confirmed to arrive on the VC some time in the future.
I havent played River King before but Harvest Moon on the GBC is a day one purchase for me. :3
Anyone else excited for these games?

It's great news that they're giving us the GBC version and not the GB one.
Gives hope for Harvest Moon 2/3 also for the GBC

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
It's finally happening!
Harvest Moon GBC is one the games I really wanted that I thought would take years to get released.

You just made me REALLY happy, thanks.

I played Mineral Town first before I tried a GBC Harvest Moon, so I was horribly confused at how everything went down in those games. That being said though, I'll probably get it, and River King too! Now if only there was a chance that the GBA games would find their way onto 3dsvc...

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

The farm, settings, characters and the graphics are exactly the same, but this one just farming.

I like it, you can dedicate all the time to farming without worrying about skipping events or having to give characters gifts (well, there are some character that you need to befriend, but I wouldn't want to spoil that).

So, in this game you can:
-Farm
-Have animals
-Fish
-Visit a simplified town to buy stuff
-Visit events and see simplified events from the SNES game (including the events with the girls)

In this game you can't:
-Get married
-Visit anyother place that is not your farm or the town.

There's also a feature that uses a real-time clock , which caused the original carts to die earlier than most GB games (like Pokemon GS) and I'd love to know if it will work here.

Yes this is the same farm as the SNES version. It's a port of the SNES version, but loses a few features like being able to walk around town, marriage etc. But it's still great for the GBC, although both follow up games are better. :3

Oh, it's not what I'd call a remake, it's more of an adaptation, you can plant things all year around and the game actually measures how good you do every new year (and gives you new features based on that). You can also set the game to play itself when you're not playing, to do things faster (that's the clock feature I mentioned earlier).

It's certainly more fun to me than the original SNES game.
I also kinda like it more than the sequels for some reason, this one is simple fun. The thrid one complicated things way too much for me

I'd say they improved quite nicely. The first one was good, the second was better and the third one was the best. I have the fondest memories with the second one though, and I'll be ecstatic when that one hits the eShop. :3

Oh yeah, I like the second one too. It's more like the SNES game in some ways, It would have been perfect it they had implemented the backpack in that one

I hate River king to death, but love the old harvest moon games! Going to get this day one.

Just one worry... Due to suspend points and restore points, wouldn't the timer be completely broken in the VC version?

That's what I fear.

To be honest, I thought they would simply skip this game just because of that feature.
Let's hope Natsume actually finds a way to work around this and makes a special VC for the game instead of just using the default one.

I mean, they should, because some important items require you to use the feature.

Well if they get rid of that mechanic then they'd have to change quite a bit of the game, or just cut it out.

I guess they could put a warning saying "SHUT THE POWER OFF INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE HOME MENU" And make it so that restore points and suspend points don't exist. Problem solved.

They still would need a way to make the game measure time without the hardware of the cart though.
If they want to do things right, they'll need to modify the game at least a little.

I just hope Natsume won't end up adding bugs and glitches as they usually do though.

Also, since this was anounced by Natsume, woudln't it make this an America-only thing for now?

Absolute Day One purchase and stay up all night playing it. I just changed the battery in my HM GBC last week, but this is better!

I already have trouble finishing Harvest Moon games as it is, I don't need to throw another one on top of the pile.

I might give River King a look, though. I've never played that series.
